Rear Admiral
Okay, folks — here we go! In less than a week, Second Nature, the first book of the new Star Trek: Seekers series, will officially be released, though as of this writing I know that some copies have been spotted in brick-and-mortar stores in the United States. Consequently, I am taking the initiative and creating the review/poll thread for the book.

This would be a good time to remind everyone that the series debuts with a two-part story; its conclusion will be in next month's release, Star Trek: Seekers #2, Point of Divergence, by Dayton Ward and Kevin Dilmore.

I look forward to hearing what you all think of the first book and the new series. For those of you who will be able to attend the Shore Leave convention in a few weeks, know that both Books 1 and 2 of Seekers will be available at the show. This is a special, convention-weekend-only promotion, arranged by special permission of the publisher.

To all who join us on this new foray into the unknown expanse of the Taurus Reach, thank you, and welcome!

Best,
David Mack

Can't wait!! I pre-ordered the books, but I have to finish the Vanguard series first.

Can't we keep this one? I love the fucking options. ;)

FYI, just got my copy in today!!! :D

Re: Star Trek: Seekers #1 - Second Nature - Spoilerific Review Thread

Looking forward to seeing how this series evolves and ends. I need to order book 1 soon.

Re: Star Trek: Seekers #1 - Second Nature - Spoilerific Review Thread

I've been informed my copy has shipped, and should be here tomorrow. I can't wait. :) Having read the excerpt (prologue, I assume?) it looks to be of the usual Mack quality (already I care about the plight of the Tomol, which presumably is key).

Now that's a cover!

Please refer to David Mack's original thread for the intro this time around :). The posts of that thread will be merged into this second one soon so nothing gets lost; the acrobatics are just to swap out the poll with one that'll get picked up by the review thread ranking table.

Reposting this from the now-closed thread:

Re: SKS #1: Second Nature by David Mack Review Thread (Spoilers!)

I gotta say, I'm not loving "SKS" as the abbreviation. It doesn't seem to suggest the sound of the word "Seekers" to me. More like "Skis." Or "Sucks," and we don't want to go there. Would SKR be better?

On the other hand, I'm currently working on a novel whose initialism is ROTFUL, so maybe I'm not the best judge of these things...

Re: SKS #1: Second Nature by David Mack Review Thread (Spoilers!)

^ Totally fine with SKR, not attached to SKS, it's just what I came up with in the spur of the moment. I've edited the post, but since there are replies already trampledamage will have to touch the thread title.

We could also use SKRS btw, we already have a four-letter one in MyrU, ...

Let's consider these startup difficulties a reflection of the magnitude of the event or sth :).

Re: SKS #1: Second Nature by David Mack Review Thread (Spoilers!)

I personally thing SKS is a good shortening for Seekers.

I preordered this yesterday and hopefully will have it for when I go to Ireland in a couple of weeks.

Re: SKS #1: Second Nature by David Mack Review Thread (Spoilers!)

My copy arrived today. :D

Re: SKS #1: Second Nature by David Mack Review Thread (Spoilers!)

Perhaps one could acronymize the entire series name as STS? I personally don't care for SKS as the acronym, but would have no problem with a four-letter acronym such as SKRS.

Haven't started reading yet, been to busy with other things.

I will say this...... THAT COVER!!!!!!!! :D :D :D :D

Let's go for SKRS then :) It has the benefit that I'm not going to forget what it stands for like some of the acronyms :alienblush:

Okay, am going to move in the posts from the other thread. :techman:

Hopefully all done :)

I didn't copy over all of the posts, since some of them were discussing the thread. And I copied rather than moved them, so the original thread is intact.

Amazon says my copy is now "in preparation for shipping," so...should be here soon. Looking forward to this one very much. Always up for a movie-era book.
