Skip Homeier R.I.P.

Green

Commander
Red Shirt
Two time Trek vet Skip Homeier died June 25 at the age of 86.

I really liked his as Dr. Severin in Way To Eden. Forget hippies -- he played a great cult leader to that group.
Also liked him in the Outer Limits episode he did. "Expanding Human." A case of a child actor making it to adult working actor who avoided a lot of the pitfalls and lived to a ripe old age.

Rest in Peace

May he rest in peace. I quite enjoyed his two appearances on The Original Series (“The Way to Eden” is one of my favorite episodes) as well as his stints on The Outer Limits and Mission: Impossible. Just an awesome looking guy with enormous screen presence.

Skip also played Melakon in season's two's "Patterns of Force". I'm only guessing, but as Dr. Sevrin I'm willing to bet Skip's ears were the only ones to take as long as, if not longer, to create in makeup than Spock's. I also wonder why Sevrin is wearing a deviled egg on his tunic? Ah well, R.I.P, sir. :)

I think the egg symbolizes his rebirth as a space hippie guru, or maybe he just accidentally spilled his breakfast on his costume.

Very sorry to hear it. His two OS episodes were not my favorites, but he was really memorable for me. Maybe it was his voice.

He was good in a lot of TV shows. Another thing I remember him for fondly was as Barney Fife's Luther Heggs's rival in The Ghost and Mr. Chicken. RIP.

His career was varied, but he really got his start in the 1944 film Tomorrow the World, playing a Hitler Youth member sent to the US
when the Nazi's invaded Poland and his struggles between his Nazi indoctrination and realities in the USA..

Made the transition from child actor to in demand character actor quite well.. with an impressive body of work.

Requiescat in pace Skip Homeier, you will be remembered with a glass of my finest Pilsner tonight.

TOS red shirt David L. Ross also avoided any solid connection with Star Trek, until his friend Leonard Nimoy died. Video made before Nimoy's passing.

I love "Way to Eden" and even though I have been watching TOS for over 45 years I'm embarrassed to admit I never realized he also played Melakon! "Patterns of Force" is also a favorite episode of mine.

Same here! I've watched TOS since 1971 and never realized this was the same actor in "Patterns of Force" until I read the notice of his passing on Twitter.
