Size of crew quarters

Well screw that!
I thought it was cool when I was in the Army, my first 1 man room.
It was 6.6 ft wide and 14 ft long.
I thought that was GREAT.
Damn! I wish I'd have had a football field sized room.
Now in bummed out.:wah:
You were living the dream!

Nevermind my previous post, I just found two quarters on Deck 9 in the Whitefire drawings that are a whopping 65x40 feet! Thats 2600 sq. ft and larger than the entire ground floor of my house.

I estimate from the show that Picards quarters are about 20 feet wide and maybe 50 feet long, at the most, and that includes his bedroom and bathroom. Thats 1000 sq ft.
The larger quarters are for families. We know there are families on board. There is no reason to think a single person, even the captain, would want or need quarters large enough for a family.

Good point, I didn't even think of that.

And the quarters we've seen on screen were dictated by the realities of set design and production budgets. Even when we saw Worf's quarters when Alexander was onboard there was nothing to show it was family size cabin because that would required a new set to be built instead of re-dressing an existing one.

Okay, but that is soooo not fun to think about. You know for those of us that live in our fantasy world........
