Sitcoms? Not usually

The BIG BANG THEORY is my favorite TV show. And its the first sitcom that I have watched since, get this, Threes Company. I never cared for SIENFIELD or CHEERS or all those shows. They just didn't appeal to me.

Big Bang Theory does appeal to me because of the subject matter and cast are so different.

Are any of you big time sitcom lovers? And if so, what are some of your favorites???

With only a few exceptions, I don't like sitcoms. The ones I've enjoyed over the years are Three's Company, The Facts of Life, Cheers, Seinfeld and Married... With Children. And these days I watch How I Met Your Mother. I don't know if you can call Curb Your Enthusiasm a sitcom, but I like that one too.

I don't care much for sitcoms, either. The only one I watch on a regular basis is How I Met Your Mother.

The only ones I watched on a regular basis before that were Fraiser, Cheers and MASH.

Hate hate hate "How I met your mother" (Doogie is funny, the rest of the cast is annoying), and really don't like "Big Bang Theory". Can't stand MASH and Scrubs, either. Guess that makes me a bad judge of "funny" to many. :)

I enjoyed Seinfeld when it was on, same with "Friends" (but watched it too much, I'm pretty burned out on that show) and liked "Cheers" (too young to remember it first run, but really love the reruns). And for some reason, I laugh a lot during "King of Queens".

Modern sitcoms (yup, they're sitcoms) I LOVE are The Office, My Name is Earl, 30 Rock, and Curb your Enthusiasm.

I'm not a huge sitcom fan, but I do like a few. Namely Scrubs, Corner Gas, Futurama and The Simpsons. Could never get into Big Bang Theory, though, mostly because the multicamera laugh track set-up bugs the hell out of me.

I think the last sitcom I watched on a regular basis was Frasier. Not reallyinto them, unless you count shows like 30 Rock and Arrested Development as a sitcom.

I like:

How I Met Your Mother
The Big Bang Theory
Scrubs
Cheers
Everybody Loves Raymond
Frasier
Weeds
Curb Your Enthusiasm

I do not generally go for sitcoms at all. I can't even stay interested in 30 Rock, and it's a very good sitcom.

I prefer untraditional comedy/dramedies like Chuck, Pushing Daisies and Entourage, or edgy "transgressive" comedy like It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia and South Park

Seinfeld would be the only one on my list, unless I could also count Arrested Development and The Office. I recently discovered It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and it's pretty hilarious, too. Sometimes if my roommate has Scrubs or King of Queens on I might watch for a bit, but they're nothing like Seinfeld.

I'd like to check that one out. Same with Arrested Development. I think they're more like "half-hour comedies" than actual sitcoms if there's a difference. I dunno. When I think of sitcoms, I think of a certain format that includes stuff like a studio audience and a laugh track, not just any show that happens to be funny. I guess Curb Your Enthusiasm could fit in that category too.

My favourite sitcoms are Fawlty Towers, Yes Minister/Prime Minister, and Black Books. The only American sitcom I've been able to stomach is The Simpsons, although I haven't watched it in several years now.

Despite not being sold as a comedy, Buffy is the funniest American television series I've seen. I've been told that The West Wing is witty also and plan to get around to it once I'm done catching up with Lost. :)

Ha, funny - when I saw the title for this I immediately thought "only The Big Bang Theory..." :rommie:

I'm not a huge Sitcom fan. I loved The Fresh Prince of Bel Air back in the day. In the more recent history, I quite liked Friends and I absolutely adore Coupling (UK). As for stuff that's still running, Scrubs and How I Met Your Mother are both great shows.

I absolutely love How I Met Your Mother and The Big Bang Theory. Scrubs is still great too. But the best sitcom of all time is Married ... With Children.

I love Friends and The Simpsons. Currently my favorite sitcom is Big Bang Theory.

Other "comedies" I like are Arrested Development and The Office.

My Love for the sitcom started in the 80's with Diff'rent Strokes and Silver Spoons. As I grew older, I watched almost nothing but sitcoms, with a staple being the Cosby Show in the 80's/90's. I totally fell for Night Court (still my all time favourite) - others I've really enjoyed are MASH (re-runs), Cheers, Wings, Frasier, Seinfeld, Curb Your Enthusiasm and Friends. After Friends ended, there was a drought of sitcoms for several years - until I found the Big Bang Theory - NOW, I'm hooked...

Edited to add: Roseanne and Scrubs - I'm married with three kids, but I'm ABSOLUTELY in love with Sarah Chalke:drool::drool::drool:
