Difficult but Ill go for: In The Pale Moonlight
People,
For once, I'm in the minority. I voted for Far Beyond the Stars mainly because it's a more relevant allegory on prejudice and racism than almost any other ST ep. I also enjoyed the clever way they used the existing actors to play different characters in the story, esp. the scary part where the cops kept transforming back and forth from human hooligans to Dukat and Weyoun.
I also saw it as the spiritual side of Sisko, the role thrust on his shoulders when he became the Emissary of the Prophets, a role he was never that comfortable with until perhaps the end.
Having said all that, it barely edges out In the Pale Moonlight by a nose.

Quite true! Since it seems a lot of SF fans like their drama dark and gritty, a la nuBSG, that that's why In the Pale Moonlight is winning the poll. Like your Darkseid avatar, BTW! -- RR

Two of the best episodes of the series, that much is certain. I can't help but cringe and fidget when watching Avery's over-the-top breakdown, but the same goes for the scene in ItPM where he punches Garak.
Sisko's dilemma in ItPM isn't much of a dilemma, it's all quite clear cut really. Kill or be killed basically...so it loses a point for that. But FBtS loses a point for being a bit self indulgent, or maybe even narcissistic, due to the fact that it's scifi writers writing about scifi writers writing scifi...
ItPM was just sooooo refreshing and satisfying after I had to put up years and years of 'we must do the right thing' shit like in I, Borg. But on the other hand...oh god my head is about to explode. I'll vote later....
