Sisko is ALIVE!!!

I'm watching the season 4 episode Accession, and about 10 or 11 minutes into it when Sisko is explaining to Dax the prophecies about the Emissary, he says this:

(Spelling of the other Emissary's name is incorrect, I know...)

Sisko: "If you look at the prophecies about the emissary, a lot of them make a lot more sense without Corum in the picture."
Dax: "Really?"
Sisko: "Every text I've read says that the prophets will name their emissary by calling him to them. That he would find the celestial temple. That there the prophets would give him back his life."
Dax: "Go on."
Sisko: "They didn't give me back my life..."

YET!!!!!

Is Sisko back in the DS9 relaunch books? This is a perfect canonical way to bring him back!

Yes, Sisko returned from the wormhole in the novel Unity.

I assumed they were talking about giving back his life, as in, him getting over Jennifer's death by the Borg and realizing he'd been living his life in the past and moving on. Giving back his life that way so that he'd be open to meeting women like Kassidy and getting his Starfleet career back on track and getting out of his emotional slump.

In 'Accension', Sisko & Dax talked about it, and the basic argument was the literal defination of "give back life," meanin' to resurrect from the dead, and "give back life," meanin' to make a person get back to livin'.

It works either way, and, in the series, it works for Sisko, since he got back to livin' after meetin' the Prophets.

And it only works in the literal sense if ya think Sisko died in the Fire Caves before he wound up in the Celestial Temple. Personally, I don't - I think they pulled him out of the fall, and that's why his uniform was singed when he talked to Sarah.

Nah, the texts say give back life, not get him over depression.

Right, because religious texts the world (and galaxy!) over are known for their clarity and lack of ambiguity or metaphor.

^As versed as we can be from watching a TV show.

It's clear from Destiny that you need great big grains of salt when interpreting the prophecies.

"Three Vipers" indeed.

I have always been of the camp that says the Prophets gave Ben his life back metaphorically. It tickles me that this thought doesn't occur to him.

Well, they gave him back his life after his leap into the chasm in the Fire Caves. He should have died? Right? I agree with the metaphorical interpretation. :D
