British actor Sir Patrick Stewart has walked away the worse for wear after berating a fellow actor at the Glamour Women of the Year awards in London.
Stewart, a distinguished stage and screen actor who became famous for his role in Star Trek, went up on stage to introduce the Film Actress of the Year award and took the opportunity to lay into James Corden who was hosting the awards.
"I want to speak to James here," he said into the microphone, gesturing to Corden behind him. "It is James isn't it?"
Corden, co-creator and star of TV comedy Gavin & Stacey, approached the actor with a smile that soon disappeared once Stewart starting speaking.
"When the presenters are up here and when the recipients are receiving their awards, don't stand at the back of the stage with your hands in your pockets looking around as though you wished you were anywhere but here," Stewart reprimanded.
The host didn't take kindly to the remark and followed with his own dig, "Oh, you couldn't be more wrong Sir, you couldn't be more wrong ... and if it looked like that, I am so sorry but when you come up and present an award, just f---ing get on with it."
The crowd was split, with some cheering and others sounding shocked.
Rather than letting it end there, the exchange degenerated with Stewart throwing in a jibe about the comedian's weight.
"From where I was sitting, I can see your belly," he said.
He trailed off mid-insult but Corden insisted he continue. "I'm waiting for the punchline, go on ... you can see my belly and we can all see you dying right now. Let's go."
At this point, people in the crowd started heckling for the two to get on with the show.

Um... wow.

If you watch the video, they're laughing and nudging each other and whispering. Doesn't come across the way its portrayed in the story.

It just looked like a poor attempt by the British to stage a "shocking" US awards show moment. It all felt very awkward and staged.

We wish that was scripted, but I don't think it was. Sir Patrick actually sounded tired and/or drunk, to be honest.

Once the artist takes her award, you can see them in the back whispering and laughing with each other. Very clearly just staged. Both men looked like they'd rather be somewhere else.
