Simon and Schuester Shipping Question

Well I am excited since I recieved an email from simonsays.com that Over A Torrent Sea shipped yesterday and I should have it tomorrow. My question is, where are they located and how does thier shipping work? When I ordered A singular Destiny, it shipped from Oregan. Over a Torrent Sea is coming from New Jersey. Any Ideas? Thanks

Like most publishers, they print their books at one plant (usually Brattleboro, VT) and then truck them to distribution centers across the country. A load of books will go to Amazon, B&N, BAM, etc. Others to go their own facility while others will wind up at Baker & Taylor, a book distributor for other bookstores and sales venues. It all comes down to who you order your book from. And all of the above leads to varying in store appearance dates.

The two (usually sea-freighted) January releases are already in Australian book chains. Either Simon & Schuster Australia brought them in faster on purpose, or there was room for some sea-freight cargo to go by air last month!
