Seriously, a MOVIE petition for one of the worst hams in hollywood? We're trying to grow the fan base here not shrink it.

He's not. but according to him, he is. The guy could be on screen just long enough to pass gas and he would think his "creative wind" was the reason for the film's success.Yes I'm exagerating, but the guy does have an overblown sense of his so-called "Box office" importance.

But seriously, this petition is about as well thought out as those dumbasses who were canvasing to have Daniel Craig assassinated (or something) before Casino Royale came out. Haven't seen too many of those dudes strolling around the internet spouting off "told ya so"'s have you?

The point is though is that while those craignotbond guys were annoying, they could very easily have been right because nobody had seen the film! Just like nobody's seen this one. The production staff's read the script; we haven't.

Let them figure out where to put Shatner.

If anywhere.

Ripping out eyeballs sounds like a lawsuit waiting to happen. Imagine how much the personal injury lawyers are going to take from the Trek budget to give Shater bionic eyes. I doubt after that, they'll be able to afford film for the cameras, let alone starship models.

But while coloured contacts may make Pine's eyes brown, they won't satisfy those who want Shatner to make an appearance in the film. Safe in the knowledge that the eyeballs playing Kirk once rested in the eye-sockets of Shatner, those fears would be put to rest. :)

Petition on internet boards: A ridiculous exercise done by delusional fanatics who think the producers of a show are going to drop and change everything just because of the strength of a few thousand dissidents.A worthless piece of paper that doesn't even make it to the intended target becuase is it usually used as toilet paper or a paper wad by some staff flunkie.

You probably should have called the petition "We want William Shatner" because the CHARACTER of 'Captain Kirk' is already in the film (and plays a major role). So, you HAVE Kirk, you just don't have William Shatner AS 'Captain Kirk'.

Probably because nobody finds him to be that outrageous a choice. Haven't really seen huge amounts of protest anyway. Even at AICN, which is saying something.

^^^^I guess it just shows the depths of popularity has sunk to. Remember when Daniel Craig was chosen as James Bond? Remember the furor of that announcement? Hell, the early pics of Christopher Eclesston as Doctor Who caused a bit of a fury from the fans. The lack of a major reaction about the Kirk story shows how much irrelevant Trek has become to the mainstream. Sad but true.
