"Show Used" Dilithium Crystals - scam?

I see your point, but let's just table that part of the discussion for now while we check things out.
Chris has sold these for a while. I have one and it's just a fun item.
The IAW auctions were legit and they sold wierd things. Heck i got an asteroid from DS9 and yes I can screen match it. So the only q is whether Chris really broke those large ones up to make the small... I don't know but do presume so.
As to publicity - Chris and his eBay store are well known and on a site visible to millions.

I'm new here... was just watching my new ST4 on blu ray, saw the crystals, and remembered these auctions on ebay. I wanted to see if they were still there. Well, here's what i know:
I'm a Trek prop collector, although mainly just replicas, because it's so hard to verify authentic ones, and when they are verified, they are pretty pricey.
I first encountered his auctions about 3 years ago, when looking for some Trek replicas on ebay. I always search closed auctions too, to see what i had missed, and noticed several of his that had been already closed (sold). So, i glanced at his feedback. I looked at every page of it. There were over TWO HUNDRED purchases of these crystals. And that was only the ones i could verify what the item was that he was selling (i.e., the most recent auctions...ebay doesn't make detailed info available after a few months of a listing's closing).
And that was 3 years ago. Every few months, i notice he still has them listed, but haven't bothered to check on how many more he's still selling.
As of right now, if you go to an auction page for the crystals, you can purchase up to 52 vials. So, we're talking over 250 vials of crystals, if you only include what i counted 3 years ago, and the 52 he has available now. So that's a VERY conservative 250+.
Knowing he has sold them in those intervening 3 years, and assuming some of the many auctions previous to my search, that i'm not able to get details on contained crystals, it's anyone's guess as to how many "authentic" crystals he supposedly has sold. Thousands, perhaps? Who could possibly know?
I won't make any claims for or against authenticity, but i wanted to just give some additional info. So, make your own choice.
Anyway, i just thought i would throw my two cents in.

P.S. If anyone has any communicator/tricorder replicas from any of the original cast movies they want to part with, let me know.

I'd like to get a vial of them, and if Chris is actually signing the COA, that would be awesome.
I'm Shatner's former cleaning woman, and I'm selling his old toupees on Evilbay! Starting bid $200.
And frankly, I think you'd have to be nuts to pay even $20 for a chunk of rock.

If they were actually used in the show, and Chris Doohan signs the COA, then it's really not a bad price at all.
Let me know how that goes, will ya? If you survive, that is. I'd recommend taking a phaser... set to kill, stun is for wimps.
Maybe the OP just wanted to advertise these things by cleverly asking if they were real. If he just put up the link saying he was selling these crystals this would be closed now. But it's a good move to pretend to be the innocent buyer who innocently puts up the link to show these items for sale to a bunch of Star Trek fans.
