Show to recommend. It's called the "Detectorist."

It stars Toby Jones who many might know as the bad guy who gets caught and turned into a computer from the first "Captain America" movie and Mackenie Crook who played the Dwight Schultz type of character on the British version of "The Office" and also the guy with a fake eye in the "Pirates of Carribean" movies.

This show is the perfect show if you don't want to deal with tons of action and explosions and super melodrama. It's basically just two guys and a few quirky secondary characters whose main hobby is using those metal detector things to look for old objects and gold but their is no real rush to any of it because like I said it's mostly just a hobby they really love. The Crook character also has a wife and TOby Jones also has some love interest in his life as well but I wouldn't call the show a romance. It's just another part of the show. You can find the 1st two seasons on Amazon Video and the third season on Youtube and I am guessing maybe the BBC as well but not sure.

I think you mean that Dwight is the equivalent of Mackenzie’s Gareth character from the original The Office, in its American remake. :-p

That quibble aside, I recommend the show too. It’s a lovely gentle comedy, written and directed by Crook. Not a lot happens and it generally eschews most sitcom conventions but it’s extremely watchable, funny and kind-hearted. Lovely folky soundtrack too.

You think my Dwight mention was a mistake. It's even worst when I actually called him the name of the actor who plays Barclay on Trek!:) Just noticed it now!
