In addition to my action figure collection, I collect autographs from Star Trek people and Lapel pins. Here is my pin collection, and it comes with a story.

I started this collection when I was stationed in Germany. There they have what is called Volksmarching. If you are European, or have been there for any length of time, you know what this is. Americans sometimes have a little trouble with it. It is like a marathon only walking. The events are coordinated in the same way marathon runs are here in the states. Each participant buys an alpine hat and then walks. At the end of the walk, or march, they receive a pin for that event which goes on the hat, showing everyone which marches they have been on.
I thought this was a great concept, so I bought a hat and started collecting pins from places I went to. I quickly overloaded the alpine hat, so back home in Texas I bought a proper cowboy hat. It too was quickly overloaded, and so now I am on a vest. Every pin represents a place I have been to, and pins only go on the vest if I have been to that place. For example: I have a Victoria,Tx. pin that is not shown because I have not made it there yet, but I found the pin and grabbed it just in case. When I get to Victoria, it will go on the vest.
One of my favorite pins is the Astroworld pin. I went there many times as a kid but had not been for a while when they announced they were tearing it down. I took my nephew who had never been and went one last time, and got the pin while I was there. Now the park is gone and you can't get that pin anymore.
It annoys me when I go to a place that has a gift shop but no pins. I have a pin for Splashtown, but the chain park Schlitterbahn doesn't sell one in their gift shop. You would think a company that big would. My wife collect shot glasses and they have those.
Anyway, here they are, so enjoy.
