Shouldnt history have been altered by stopping the TCW ??

When Archer stopped the Temporal Cold War from beginning in "Storm Front," wouldnt that mean all the effects of the TCW on the timeline wouldnt have happened?

No mission with Klaang, No destroyed Perrogan colony, No Xindi attack (Trip's sister would be alive) etc... Essentially the show's entire history would be altered.

How they handled it here doesnt really fit with how Trek usually handles Time Travel and cause and effect.

No, Archer only prevented the the more heated temporal war where all these agents stationed throughout the timeline starting messing with history which was triggered by Vosk. Once Vosk was prevented from returning to the future via his temporal conduit he never got the opportunity to start it.

However, the alterations from the TCW--Klaang, the attack in Shockwave, the attack on Earth by the Xindi--all remained unchanged. So it would seem the factions reached a stalemate where they agreed to no further incursions as well as not repairing the earlier changes.

Re: Shouldnt history have been altered by stopping the TCW ?

I always thought the TCW was about creating the timeline as we knew it, not changing it to something else.

See FG succeeded in his mission, the TCW created the timeline as we know it. Without him history would have been different.

Few people understood that though, they thought it was about changing history not creating it.

As with anything involving the TCW, it is tough to be definitive as it was described in such a limited manner. The events of Storm Front have to be looked at in the context of the shows producers looking for a way to end the TCW, not have to revisit it in future episodes, and let the show move on.

Given this backdrop, I actually never gave this episode too much thought and just let the TCW go away. It was ENT trying to get away from time travel episodes.

Plus, technically, this episode occurs in an alternate timeline anyway...

there are different theories about interference with a time line and you saw two of them on tos depending it seems how it was done.
in guardian things changed very easy.
while in assignment earth it seemed to that things that happened became part of the time line.

what is interesting is that within daniels time line the expanse still existed while it was destroyed .
