Should we fear and resent robots?

Now that Faceplant is Meta…look for more distracted pedestrians walking into traffic:

Gotta hit ‘em all, right Frankenstein?

That's not all that scary. It's not like the robot made a vindictive choice to break someone's finger. The boy tried to move out of turn and it must have mistaken the boy's finger for a piece or some object incorrectly on the board.

Automation can be a double edged blade, sometimes making one job more efficient destroys those jobs it replaces but creates more jobs as a result. Although we will need a better solution when we get to the point where everything is so automated there isn't demand for any sort of jobs anymore.

I have no fear of robots or computers, as long as they're simple automatons, carrying out a pre-programmed function. But once they become autonomous and start thinking like people do, they might start mimicking us in less desirable ways.

As by long as we’re not dumb enough to give robots intelligence AND control over their own power sources. It’s not robots we have to fear. It’s their human programmers.

No robot should be able to autonomously take life or do harm. Human controlled drones are fine, just keep a human brain in charge of the whole thing.
