Someone's looking to start trouble...

Let me start off...

Lens flares and shaking cameras make it look more "realistic"!

No it doesn't. Lens flares and shaking cameras just make for poor cinemitography...

Phew! Glad that's over with!

Trek has had camera shaking ever since TOS, but as far as lens flare it's probably not a question of "if?" but "how much?" with Abrams back at the helm, IMO.

No lens flare; they've exceeded their quota. Camera shaking has its place even in the antiseptic Star Trek universe.

There's a difference between a shaking camera to simulate the ship shaking and a shaking camera to make it look like a goddamn Dockers commercial.

I think in the audio commentary JJ explains why he has so many lens flares in the movie. He's fond of them. Further more why is this a Future of Trek thread?

Presumeably because Trek XII will be released in the future?

As for the lens flares, if he (Abrams) wants to put them in, he's going to. No amount of bitching and moaning from the fans is going to change his mind.

I just think its a little convenient and disingenuous to set up a poll like this without taking the director's vision in to consideration.

I was just under the impression that Star Trek XII threads belonged in the Star Trek XI + forum, and yeah I agree with 005 regarding the flares.

Camera shake is a staple part of Trek (on TV or Film), how else are you suppose to know they've taken a hit?

But please dear Gods NO camera flares!

It makes no difference to me, they didn't spoil my enjoyment of Star Trek (2009) so as far as I'm concerened this issue is a long way down the list of things to do right in the making of the next film.
