Should Trek start selling behind the scenes drama Merchandise?

We can't deny it. Half of the great drama that comes from the show is the behind the scenes drama that never ends. Why hasn't Trek honed into this new potential cash cow of a idea? People don't want more models of the Enterprise. They want signed copies of any memo that said that one had to be 25% different from what was done. A Leonard Maizlish action figure that comes with a writer's desk accessory so you can pretend to have him getting into and re-writing scripts in secret. The big seller of course will be the 6 Pack Roddenberry collection. You can get military pilot Roddenberry, cop Roddenberry,TOS era Roddenberry,Fan Convention Roddenberry,TOS movie Roddenberry and then TNG era Roddenberry. The toy and merchandise potential is endless!

I won't lie and say I don't dabble in the BTS drama when some comes to light, but it's far, far from something I'd miss if it wasn't there. I personally don't find it to be "half the great drama". I can't imagine any kind of merchandising based around it that I'd want to own.

Since this thread is specifically related to Star Trek BTS drama, I'm going to move it to GTD.

Gee, thanks...

:p

Jayson, I really can't think of any reason this should remain open, but I'll give it a little bit and see if something develops.

Otherwise, please don't go back to your full-on spamming ways.

I have to admit this is an amusing idea. But it's the sort of thing that might be more effectively realized as images of the fake action figures and accessories for use as thread bombs.

Example of fake action figures: Owen Lars & Aunt Beru (charred) [e.g.: http://coolstarwarsphotos.blogspot.com/2010/07/owen-lars-aunt-beru-charred-another.html].

Warning: taking up the mantle of making high-quality images of fake things can suck up all of your time.

Isn't "behind the scenes drama merchandise" already made manifest in the form of the IDIC pin?

There is that. I was thinking also about the sea cruise that Roddenberry and Majel I think had around the 25th Anniversity of Trek. Also when you get down to it Trek conventions are basically selling the actors to the fans. Come pay and listen to their stories and get their autographs. The behind the scene Documentaries as well. Even the a place like the Trekbbs is kind of selling us to to each other. Offering us a place to go be with other fellow fans! Talk about nerd stuff that many people in your regular life have no interest in.

That’s hilarious. Gotta love the comment underneath it.
