Should they use the TOS fight music in the movie?

Wouldn't that just be really funny.

Or maybe they include it elsewhere, such as Futurame did as a national anthem.

If they could pull it off without sounding cheesy, cool. I'm not sure that's possible though. It's been spoofed so much...

If the film had mulitple movie trailers, I'd like to see one with a montage of action scenes from the film set to the Fight Music.

I wouldn't want this to be the only trailer (that would be too cheesy), but I don't think it would hurt if there was one like this out of a group of a few.

I'd probably stand up and cheer in the theater if they were to use it.

But they won't. We'll have to wait til someone uploads a video on YouTube dubbing the music into whatever Big Fight Scene the movie has.

Maybe it should be used as 'source music'. Like part of Max Steiner's score for the original King Kong was played by an orchestra during the Jackson remake. I can just see ol' Captain Kirk, chuckling away at a crudely made space epic on the old box, as the music plays.

I don't think they should directly recycle themes from the old series (Tho' it would be cool if they did). The music should be strong, melodramatic driving rhythms, not the shapeless drone of the TNG era.

They should absolutely use it. Not verbatim, but some fight scene should reference at least a few bars of it.

I'm sure Giacchino will reference it but no redo the whole thing. He did use a bit of music from the Mission: Impossible tv series in his score for MI: 3.

What the hell are you talking about?

In an episode of Futurama titled "Why Must I Be A Crustacean In Love?" Zoidberg's love interest falls for Fry instead, and Zoidberg, full of "male jelly" and easily enraged, challenges Fry to a ritualistic battle to the death. They meet in the arena in front of an audience of Zoidberg's people, and before the fight begins, the national anthem is announced... which turns out to be the TOS fight music.

Of course they should use it, although seriously re-orchestrated.

I'll take "some cheesy 60s music" over any of recent pop-music. At least, sixties music was still music, not some aboriginal chants like today. :p

Some of the score that was used in The Doomsday machine and that one with the giant space ameoba should be used, that was the best score in the series IMO
