Should they have Uhura sing and do a sexy dance. Spock play a guitar?

Beleive it or not this isn't a joke thread. I was thinking of how their realtionship needs more depth. I also remembered that they both share a intrest in music. Uhura sang a few times and did the fan dance. Spock jammed with the hippies and I think he played his instrument in another episode where Uhura sang.

What better way than to show one of the reasons why they are into each other than to show they have some common intrests? The thing is you can do alot of things with this idea. You can give their realtionship more depth,it's a nice nod to show and it is also a chance to do something funny or hip but funny and hip in a good way like the car chase/Sabotage song.

I'm still thinking of songs she could sing or Spock could play. Perhaps Uhura could sing ,The Rose, by Bette Midler. One idea I also had is that Spock might could play Stairway to Heaven or something from Jimmy Hendrix. I could see Spock being really good at it or really bad at it because he tries to keep his emotions in check. Then again it might be a outlet to sort of let his emotions out in away that doesn't compromise his calm Vulcan cool.

Why not? For starters we could have Uhura doing a sexy dance for Spock. Oviously we will never see a really good sex scene but seeing Spock and Uhura having a healthy sex life would be intresting. Plus it would be better than some of lame kiss scenes we have seen over the years in Trek.

You could play it for laughs. Spock playing a guitar to try and impress Uhura would be kind of funny,especially if he is bad at it. It would be fun to see a Vulcan actually try and woo a women.

Uhura doing a sexy dance is never a random scene. Any DVD that contains such a scene must be engineered to the highest standards in order to tolerate the greater than normal replays, freeze-frames, and slow-mos that will undoubtedly occur.

Spock could play the guitar and sing "Only a Woman" while Uhura spends all his money and cheats on him with Kirk.

The Cornpone/Bollocks quotient here actually screams "film me"! I do remember that first scene from the first season when Uhura was flirting with Spock and Spock was playing the Vulcan harp.

But Hendrix? Uhura might as well belt out Janis Joplin's "Piece of My Heart". Who would be on drums? Pavel? Jesus, this whole series would turn into an "Archies" cartoon overnight.

Besides, why would people 250 years from now feel compelled to play Hendrix?

For the same reason that classical music is still around. I'm so tired of people thinking that some of the great music of today won't stand the test of time. If the asteroid hadn't killed us in 2012 I bet you the human race would still be familiar with Jimmy Hendrix and the Beatles and who knows what else.

Also the scene will only be corny if they make it corny. Then again even if it does feel a little corny then maybe that's not such a bad thing. There is nothing wrong with movies being a little silly from time to time. Wasn't the fun of going back to the TOS characters supose to be so they could get away from stuffy, ubber-series 24th century people?

I'm all for this relation to have more depth but I don't think going all out hippies will do that. The scenes you describe from TOS reflect the 60's when the show originally aired, but that's not actual.

In terms of music in trek in general I was always pissed to see only classical music (and jazz for Riker) survived the test of time. I find it completely unrealistic.

Who really cares about their sex life...well I guess you do or you wouldn't be suggesting this insanity! To add "depth" to this relationship...which the first movie here did not do IMO...I don't think this is the route they need to take. I know all you guys would love it...but let's be serious here for one minute..

I can see it now - Dancing with the Trekkies. In fact, I've been waiting to see come Trek actors/actresses on Dancing with the Stars. I think they'd get a big audience if Jolene Blalock did the show in those little outfits...
