Should they have deleted this scene?

I did not object to seeing Alice Eve in her undies, and I certainly would not have been opposed to the Cumberbatch scene.

As my fiancé put it, "It is gratuitous because it neither offers any insight into character or moves the plot forward. Just a shot of an attractive woman in her underwear. There are women with Kirk earlier that would not be considered gratuitous as that scene demonstrated Kirk's partying and cavalier ways. I'm not upset about the scene but it turns a woman who is supposed to be a science officer and weapons expert into a chick in her underwear to be ogled."

It's difficult to tell whether this scene would have been pointless since we haven't seen it in any sort of context.

It can also be argued that if it the scene would have filled another 100,000 seats then it wouldn't have been pointless.

This video can't be seen in my country :wtf:

Can someone describe it to me droplet by droplet.

Here's a gif of the whole scene.

There's no dialogue in the scene, just oddly dramatic music, so you're not missing anything. Though I don't think it was music and dialogue you were concerned with. ;)

Can anyone work out where this would have been placed in the film, and what the context would have been? For my part, I just can't work out where Harrison would find the time to have a shower, unless it would be very early on, perhaps the first time we see him.

It's in the brig on the Enterprise, right after he was captured on Kronos.
Yes, and right before he was placed in the holding cell where he was given a basic Starfleet long jersey shirt with insigna, and pants, boots. I would think that he was given these clothes because he was still at the time known as a member of Starfleet (though gone rogue).
