Should there be new uniforms?

The uniforms were great last time around. I hope they keep them, but either way would be cool.

I say offer a long sleeve alternative for the girls, since not every girl won't have sculpted arms, and some of the girls who don't have that might be somewhat insecure about flashing not so toned arms....though I have no clue on what the health and fitness of the average 23rd century person is like.

They already have a long sleeve version

I believe that there are also some female crewmembers in pants as well, as wished for by Iguana Tonante above somewhere.

Keep what was presented but add something that clearly shows what rank someone is. As many times as I've seen the movie, I can't honestly say I remember anybody's rank showing up at the wrists like in TOS. Maybe because people were moving up and down in rank so much  I loved the vibrant, somewhat retroey colors instead of the muted tones in the first set of movies.

There were ranks on the sleeves, though not all of them for some reason...

They weren't as prominently gold-braidy as on the original TV show uniforms, but the rank stripes were there. A few examples:

I think the STXI uniforms were great. No changes needed.
I agree. Very neat, yet very retro. Instantly recognizable but distinctly modern.

I would like to see more variation, like a kind of overall for technicians (like the one they wore in TOS)...
I'm not sure about overalls, but I think there there were a few people in the crowd scenes wearing what looked like lab coats or workshop-type smocks. The guy at the right in this screencap is wearing something similar to what we used to see on background crewmen or technicians.

If they are following the original TOS rank stripe scheme, the rank of Ensign would have no stripe at all.

And the rank stripes also appeared on Kelvin uniforms, but in black.

I actually thought they were a fusion (of sorts) of the original simplified rank stripes from the original TOS pilot episode and the more familiar ones seen later in the series. From a distance, most of the ranks look like the single stripes from the pilot, but closer up they're like the classic series.

Hmm, another thought comes to mind.

Replacing the skinny stripe in the rank cuffs with a dotted stripe, that way Captains don't look like a modern-day LT CDR.

They purposely chose updated TOS uniforms because it was the opposite of what was done in the movies before. I think they'll keep the uniforms the same, for now. I doubt they'll change the uniforms in a serious way until at least ST XIV. At that point the reason would either be a different creative team or they'll want to go in a different direction and give the sense of time passing.

^ It kind of is, really. It's somewhere between green and gold. They probably did that just because of everyone bitching over what color the original TOS shirts were.
