As I already observed, time travel was introduced to new canon Star Wars before the ST ended.

I could see Disney recasting the Big Three for a streaming series, movie, or special that takes place between Episodes 6 and 7...

Recasting Luke, Han and Leia?

In the long run, Disney recasting Luke, Leia, Han (again) is almost certainly inevitable. At some point, some executive will decide that the financial benefit potential from general audience curiosity will outweigh any risk to canon or dedicated fan opinion or whatever.
