In light of ST:Disco having some mature language, should PIC have curse words?

Also, these characters are human. Every other cable shows has sex scenes. Why not PIC?

What makes you think I'm talking about Picard specifically? Romulan screaming "SHE IS THE DESTROYER! SHE IS THE END OF ALL THINGS1" strikes me as the kind who needs Space Viagra.

Honestly if any of the characters leads sexless lives, it's probably Jean Luc. That's a result of his circumstances not his virility.

"Mature" needs definition other than what seems to be the stereotyped pop culture edition. A lot of people believe that x-rated jokes, overt sex scenes on screen, "shipping" (what, "contrived character romantic soap opera" has too many big words and syllables for Gen-Z and Millennials nowadays? No worries, Gen-X and Boomers had "slash fic" for characters of any persuasion*), profanity for the pointless thrill of it**, and so on, are "mature" when all that's only "juvenile", "infantile", "sophomoric", or simply "moronic". A lot of people believe "mature" means more complex storytelling and not treating all audiences as being no older than age 6, or pandering to audiences with superficial and antiquated beliefs lacking depth. Especially if the people don't resemble the remark.

* Just keep it ambiguous in the bedroom are and have characters dealing with or cowering from issues. "Blake's 7" is a great example of this. Or even Trek TNG where Wes is ogled by a bloke while passing through a corridor in season 1, and among other scenes from other seasons the one where Troi and Geordi discuss a professor of which Geordi describes as "notorious" regarding Troi's mentioning his speech on interspecies breeding (hint: They're nodding toward said professor being a bisexual person who has a higher than average libido and likes to experiment -- and in a fictional era where STDs don't exist... apart from initials for a haplessly titled prequel... so people of all types exist in TNGville -- if that's all viewers want to explore, but with everything TNG offered and all viewers wanted nothing more than a show of sexpests instead of a venue that's supposed to be more intellectual (and niche) than who bangs what every week. Forgive me but people find all this to be exciting? Or were they expanding on the stereotype of Kirk banging every week (which he wasn't...) Thankfully TNG didn't run with all that for Riker's character any more than they had, when it comes to sci-fi, it should produce something more intellectual than a scene like this:

(Riker) "How far can we go in this holodeck?"
(Simulated lady of the evening of this week) "As far as you want."
(Riker, looking in the other direction) "Hey janitor, will you stop back in 47 seconds?"
(offscreen voice) "Sure thing but zip it up first, I don't want to see it. It's bad enough hearing what I get to deal with in less than a minute from now. Okay then, enjoy!!")

((Yes, audiences have always been juvenile and dirty. That's part of the charm. Once the "professional" show stoops down, it stops being fun.))

Speaking of STDs, didn't Harry Kim get one? For 1996 it was daring, even if weak and promptly forgotten about. Given 80% of the adult population has herpes type 1, why isn't sci-fi showing 4 of its 5 characters applying Zovirax to their affected parts every week... mostly because nobody gives a crap about nonexistent peoples' sex lives, only the adventures they can do that we can't because they're not in our universe and vice-versa. Like entertainment and stuff. Wait, isn't Zivorax for type 2? Okay, then for 1 out of its 5 characters... or both, in which case 1 out of 1 can easily carry both strains... but who wants a boring after school special? This is supposed to be taking place a long long time from now in another part of our galaxy and far away.)

** Go watch "Total Recall" - not a bad movie, but the swearing was as excessive as much as it wasn't being brave or bold in trying to be "adult" with it.

If "mature themes" refers to complex and thought-provoking themes and subject matter, then yes. If it's gratuitous graphic content, then no thanks.
