Should nuScotty be a mean drunk?

Jayson

I have heard some people complain about Scotty being used as comic-releif and some complaints about him not drinking like he did in the show and movies. The only ovious soultion is to combine these idea's into making him a anti-comic relief for the next movie. We can even see the last scene between him and his sidekick as the first hint he has found the booze. The sidekick was up high because he knew Scotty could be mean when he drinks and was afraid of getting a beating. Also explains why he was sad when Scotty beamed away. The sidekick was worried what would happen to his friend if he got hold of some rum.

When the next movie rolls around the movie should be a fun-adventure like the first one but whenever we see a Scotty scene it should be sad and depressing look at alchollholism. It starts when security receives a domestic-abuse call from Scotty's neighbors. When they show up his quarters they see brusies on his sidekick ,they are able to put two and two together. Even though the sidekick pleads that he just he tripped down some stairs or slipped in the shower they don't buy it and they take Scotty to a holding cell. Scotty of course is drunk and vomiting the entire way and making threats that he will blow up the ship the entire way down if they don't let him go.

Scotty is eventually let go because the sidekcik won't press charges. This leads to a scene were Scotty crashes a shuttlcraft on a mission because he was to drunk. When he wakes up all the characters are there waiting for him. They are throwing him a intervention. Naturally he claims he is okay and when they don't listen he threatens to kill them all. Only when his sidekicks stands up for himself and tells him he will go be someone else's sidekick does Scotty realize he has a problem and starts crying.

This is Star Trek so naturally we will have a happy ending. Scotty will be scene leaving in a Shuttlcraft to earth. He will go into rehab and we can only asume he will be back for the next movie, clean and sober.

Since some people also complained about Uhura being in a relationship with Spock, let's get Scotty and Uhura back together, like TFF, and given nuScotty newfound alcoholism and meanness, they can have an abusive relationship. That would take the comic relief out of nuScotty even faster.

Also, as an added bonus, Tryla Scott, their granddaughter, can still be born in this new timeline, although she will only be the second-youngest captain in Starfleet.

"What is it?"

"It's GREEN, you motherf*cker! Now get me another bottle!"

(Scotty hurls empty glass against the wall)

The new Scotty IS comic relief. That's why they have the Shaun of the Dead guy in the role.

Scotty was never an alcoholic in TOS or the movies. He drank in "By Any Other Name" to get the alien drunk to steal his control device. He drank romulan ale in Trek VI because it was a diplomatic dinner and everyone else was too. He had some kind of drink (alcohol or not) in "The Trouble With The Tribbles". Never has he been shown to be a drunk, alcoholic, wino, or anything approaching that. Were are these assumptions coming from.
