should gays aloud to openly be in the military! Or should "don't ask. don't tell" a good thing ? your take on this! love dr:)

"Don't ask/don't tell" is bullshit. Get rid of it. There's no logical reason gays shouldn't be allowed to serve in the military.

Yes, gays should be allowed to serve openly in the military without fear of being discharged.

Let me think: This is the United States of America in the 21st Century. So, yes, Gays should be treated the same as anyone else.

Indeed they should. Aside from their sexual orientation, they're no different than the majority of society. On top of that, they're still human beings and entitled to the rights and privileges thereof.

Dump the policy, allow them to serve. Further extend the rules regarding sexual harassment to include them.

It is against the law for a man or woman to sexually harass the opposite sex. It needs to be clear that it is just as illegal to harass the same sex.

The military should also be told to fully reinstate any soldier, sailor, airman or marine who has been discharged for being a homosexual during the last five years. It should not be mandatory, but if the person want's back in, meets the physical and other standards then they can return to finish out their term or re-enlist as they wish. No loss of rank or benefits due to their absence.

^ I second this motion. Nevertheless, I will confess that I have a hard time swallowing the concept of tolerance for gay people. I'm exactly advocating my tendency to be biased, but it is one of those matters of perspective/attitude that is hard to change.

It is human tendency - instinct - to eliminate or segregate those who are different. It keeps the species alive in a more primitive setting... but in modern life, it can be damaging.

Are Gays Aloud some kind of Girls Aloud tribute band?

Certainly they should be allowed to serve in the military.

Of course they should be able to serve openly and enjoy the fullness of their civil rights (or... military rights?) just like any other human being. DADT is a moronic solution to a moronic problem. Maybe it had its time, but now it has to go.

It's not a matter of tolerance for different behaviours, it's a matter of rights. If someone doesn't want to be exposed to gay people, it's his problem, not theirs.

Anyone who otherwise meets the academic, vocational, physical, etc. standards for the military should be allowed to serve their country if they so feel motivated to do so. Gender and sexual preference should not enter into it.

Get rid of it. Let them serve openly. As long as it doesn't interfere with their duties, who cares? Allowing women in the military hasn't made the service collapse into a lust-fueled orgy, so obviously the prospect of sex in the military is not the problem. Anyone who doesn't like gays can just get over it.

dammit. :(

so obviously the prospect of sex in the military is not the problem. Anyone who doesn't like gays can just get over it.

Proponents of DADT say it's because of morale. Well, anyone who believes that doesn't deserve to serve anyway. It's *they*, not the gays, who should be excluded from the military. DADT makes no more sense than it would for, say, Red Sox and Yankee fans to refuse to serve together...

DADT should be replaced with a compulsory Show and Tell web streamed video service.

Former Navy veteran here. I laugh and shake my head at people who want to prevent homosexuals from VOLUNTEERING to fight in an ALL VOLUNTEER FORCE all while wrapping themselves in the flag and proclaiming their pride in America being a "free society".
