Shipschematics.net gone?

I just copied the name from the thread title and pasted it into the address field. That's the first thing you should try if a search engine result fails.

I bookmarked that site a long time ago. Now my browser or antivirus software will initially warn me that it doesn't support a secure http connection, but I can bypass this with a single click and go straight to the site.

as of right now neither a Google result, the thread title, nor adding http or https works for me. everything redirects to a "Web Server's Default Page" by Plesk

It's still up. I just haven't updated it in a while due to the close-out of Eaglemoss (a primary source for my diagrams) and not having the disposable cash lying around to continue purchasing the line from FanHome/Master Replicas. Staying sane with my job and raising a family have taken precedent with my remaining "free time" these past couple of years. One day I'll get back to it.

And yeah, I've never felt the need to get site certificates installed to run it in https/port 443. HTTP only. It's never been a target for hacking and it just seems an unnecessary extra expense on top of what I've already been paying out-of-pocket for the past quarter-century the site's been in existence.

So short answer - just checked - it's all good. :)

Might be. Just checked it again and it's working fine. There may be different laws over there regarding accessing non-SSL sites.

The other possible thing is that IsoMedia (the hosting service I'm using) blocked you with a chunk of other IP subclasses. Last year, my site, along with myriads of others, got hammered with thousands of hits per day. Not sure where it was coming from, but I started hearing rumors that a bunch of these AI companies unleashed their bots to suck up literally everything they could on the internet as "learning materials" for their algorithms. This inundation went on for months and accounted for at least 30-40% of all internet traffic. Then it started tapering off towards the end of the year, but I suspect a lot of web service providers preemptively blocked a bunch of IP's to slow the bleed, as it was behaving almost like a DDoS attack. Things have settled down considerably, but the blocks may still be in place. This is all supposition on my part, but it kind of fits the M.O. of AI behavior of late. Don't really know.

HTTPS definitely won't work, as there are no SSL certificates tied to that site. HTTP is the only thing that will work. It is true that some browsers default to HTTPS, which will cause an issue.

You have to use http, some browsers make that hard, some extensions force you onto https

If you go to https you will get a certificate error. When you ignore it you get an advert for plesk hosting

The owner of the site hasn't set up https (even with an expired cert), and the companies that run the web are very much into forcing https.

The site works for me and I’m in the EU as well, so I don’t think it’s that. Have you tried a different browser and using the http://shipschematics.net instead of https://shipschematics.net, as @Maurice suggested? The former works for me, while the latter doesn’t.

And as I previously said, the http doesn't work for me either. I did say I tried 3 different ways to access the site.

But surprisingly that is only the case on my main browser, which is Firefox. But apparently it works fine on both Brave and Edge, now that I've finally checked it on other browsers. And as for FF, I did try deleting cookies, but apparently I had no cookies for the site to begin with, which means I have no way of solving the issue for that browser. So I guess I'll have to use a different browser for that site only.

Then I suspect it’s as @Paul Weaver is saying above your post: Firefox seemingly just won’t let you load the site because of the missing SSL security certificate. Chrome will let you know it’s not secure, but will still let you enter it.

:sigh: I guess, at some point, I'll be forced to get certificates loaded into the site. Ugh... What a thick slice of P.I.T.A. bread...

I do so love wasting time and money on shit that's never been needed and has otherwise worked perfectly for the past 25 years. Most of my career has been spent plugging holes manufactured by others like that. 🫤

Firefox will load http sites just fine.

But some extensions will upgrade from http to https silently (https everywhere for example), and if you are like 99% of people and visit google, then type in "www.google.com" into the search, then click on the first result, then type "amazon.com", then click the first result

> Some reason your link works and took me there when i tried google it took me to a ad for plex web hosting

then you'll be stuck as google will link to the https version of a site (which lacks a valid certificate). I'm not sure it will even index http only sites any more (well at least expose them)
