Ships of Star Trek Online

While obviously no discussion can really be made - particularly at this early stage - regarding inclusion of elements of the STO plot into the TrekLit verse once we get there (tho I think it's likely that the destruction of Romulus will occur as it's 'primary canon'), I'm wondering whether anyone has any opinions on whether the STO-only ships are likely to appear in TrekLit especially given that a TrekLit ship (the Luna-class) appeared in STO)?

Personally, I think it probably depends on whether it's a modified Canon Ship (like the Connie-based Excaliber, Excelsior-based Vesper, or the Defiant-mods Vigilant & Gallant) are good inclusions, but the more original designs like the Dervish-class Fleet Escort or the Oracle-class Deep-Space Vessel would be a little trickier.

Any thoughts?

Since Starfleet lost a good chunck of its fleet, I think it was around 40%, they could use some of those ships soon. It is a different reality (since the Borg are still around) but I don't see why some could appear but I guess that would be up to the writers or editors.

Well, the STO ships (obviously) featured heavily in The Needs of the Many, which also established that STO/Countdown/TNoTM and Destiny are concurrent parallel timelines deviating some time prior to Avatar in which many similar events occurred (Ro becomes DS9 security chief, Riker and Troi have a kid named Tasha, Picard and Bevery have a kid etc.), as well as several huge differences (Borg invasion, Janeway's death, Undine invasion etc).

So maybe, maybe not.

(of course, if an author happens to be a fan of the game, I'm sure they'll find a way to Mary Sue "their" ship and characters into whatever they're writing somehow :p)
