Captain
People here seem to think the ship is being built is it not more of a refit as pike had the ship before kirk with spock ,not like if they would build a new ship then give it to a rookie captian just freash out the acadmey.Just my thought on it. P.s does look like the phase two idea they were working on

They probably won't show the ship being built on the film since it seems to take place about 20 years after that.

Fan reaction to the teaser trailer has made me realize that we need to blow the fans out the airlock.

[Sidious] Good! Your hate has made you powerful. Now, fulfill your destiny...[/Sidious]

Keep in mind, reaction here at TrekBBS only represents a small sampling of the fanbase. If the film is a critical success, I'm sure many will undergo a miraculous conversion, denying any previous dislike for this "revised" look. Few fans have the staying power to go on hating something, especially when it starts to win over the media and puts Star Trek back into popular culture. TNG's coming of age around 1990 is proof of that. Isn't that the point, rather than whether the ship is white, silver or some shade of grey?

I dunno. Star Trek has already done an homage to the film "The Enemy Below". Isn't it about time Trek did an homage to one of it's contemporaries, "Operation Petticoat"?

I'm gonna boycott unless Abrams team hangs garters from the E's warp nacelles!

For 22 years I worked as a structural welder building air craft carriers for the Navy in Newport News Virginia. All that I have to say is...if they are building a starship with stick rods 200 years from now the Enterprise in a piece of junk.

Hey, you didn't need to say, "out the airlock." :D

And think how much happier the fans would be .

If they don't improve their welding technique, I'm boycotting this movie.

I think you may have a point. I've watched that bootleg teaser trailer at least 27 times, and they haven't gotten any better...

Good idea. You go first.

Ya know...I was watching the trailer for 'First Contact', and it showed a Borg ship that - once the camera pulled away - was revealed to be in the shaped of a Starfleet Emblem (infact it morphed into a Starfleet emblem).

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't that violate canon?

I really liked that trailer. I thought that was a very cool sequence when I saw that in the theater. I didn't know a new Star Trek movie was coming out, so it was a surprise.

Hm...tell that to the rabid TOSser segment of the Galactica fanbase.

A hate-on going well past four years now, that got started even before the reimagining even premiered.

Doesn't Star Trek itself violate canon? It's been 12 years and still no Eugenics Wars!!!
