Ship visitors getting a uniform and free run of the ship. Why?

Khan never set foot on the bridge

"We offered the world Photoshop!"

Who was that originally a picture of? Someone in gold with full commander's stripes -- I can't figure who that would be.

I'm reminded of the following TOS caption contest entry:

Khan: "It would also ... help my recovery ... if I could be given a bladed weapon ... or perhaps a bazooka."
Kirk: "I'll have six of each sent right up, harmless stranger I know nothing about."

Still can't stop laughing.

Yeah, I wondered if the stripes had been altered, but it seemed illogical that someone creating a photoshop of Khan in the captain's chair would make him a commander.

Still, now that I look again, it seems maybe there are some bits of the middle half-stripe still showing where it wasn't completely erased/covered. And that does look like Shatner's build. So given that someone apparently did give Khan commander's stripes, the question is, why?

Having just re-watched "Charlie X" for the first time in maybe 30 years, I'm diggin' his brown suede version of Kirk's wrap-around tunic!
I wonder if Abbyshot would ever put one of those out.

I always figured Kirk giving (allowing) Captain Christopher a uniform was just a professional courtesy from one military man to another.

Agreed.

Kirk even made sure that Christopher was given a Starfleet rank stripe (Lieutenant) equivalent to the man's real US Air Force rank (Captain).
