Voyager can be V'Ger or Yager/Yeager like Chuck Yeager. Maybe that's how they got the name for the Intrepid kitbash Yeager Class, but removing the "V-O".
Excelsior can be Elsi/Elsy
Defiant can be the Ant or Efi
The Protostar from Prodigy would be Proto going by the Disco tradition
