Ship Damage

It would've cost too much money to create new models/sets for alien starbases. It's why they should have waited until after 2000 to make the show since by then they'd have leftover sets/models from DS9 as well as cheaper CGI.

Plus, the driving force was getting home. It would have been too much like TOS or TNG to see Voyager and her crew in orbit around a planet or at a station at the beginning or end of an episode.

And, how often, in any of the Trek series, do we hear the Chief Engineer or some other officer say "Well, we've got (X) damage, so we'll have to put in at the next/nearest starbase/station for repairs"...and then the show actually follows up on that?

Voyager was in the Delta Quadrant for 7 years and had many battles....how come it allways good as good as new at the beginning of the next episode.

They foolishly cut a line from the pilot where it was explained to Paris that, in addition to neural gel-packs, the hull plating was also alive and grew back after being damaged. Usually took about 7 days to grow back.

You know, that wouldn't have been such a bad idea.

I mean, just have them explain the ship was techno-organic and had a natural regeneration factor (that they lifted from Borg tech they found over the years). It would've shut a LOT of people up.

Maybe Voyager had a trunk monkey to fix all the damage?

If thats the case then that simple two scond line would have saved a lot of scratching of heads and less use of the voyager-goggles!
