I'd swear Michelle pronounced it sen-joe, without the h, but I'd have to rewatch to be sure one way or the other.

It's been a while since I saw the pilot episode but I think I heard "sen-joe", "shen-joe" and "shen-zoe". But definitely no shenshen or shooshoo

Is there any particular reason we wouldn't expect varying pronunciations?

Probably closer than most, but her accent is Malaysian rather than Chinese. I remember that when she did the Chinese-language film Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, a lot of Chinese viewers found her pronunciation pretty bad.

Almost everyone in that film is speaking with an intense accent. Chow Yun-Fat's first language is Cantonese, Michelle Yeoh's is English, only Zhang ZiYi was fluent enough in Mandarin to give Ang Lee the performance he was looking for.
