Shelving The Buried Age

Man of Steel

Finished reading The Buried Age and now I want to put it on my shelf. Problem is I have no idea where to place it. I know that Catalyst of Sorowws ends in 2360 so where do I place this one seeing how it ends in 2364.

I don't think there's a single right answer to that. It could go in 2355 because it begins there, or it could go just before "Farpoint" because it ends there, or it could go between Deny Thy Father and Catalyst of Sorrows because the bulk of it takes place in 2358-60. It depends on your personal preferences.

Me, I chose among the different options based on where the book looked best on the shelf.

I think I would probably put it before the your first TNG book, since it is kind of a prequel to TNG.

It has "The Next Generation" in its title, so I'm treating it as simply the next TNG book on my shelf. My TOS collection hops all over the place, so why not TNG?

Had the spine resembled the other "Lost Era" books, I may have placed it there, but I ended up filing them in regular TOS.

Mind you, I'm not ready to shelve it yet - still reading', still enjoyin'.

OK, I just checked. "Death in Winter" is over with the hardcovers, so "The Buried Age" kicks off a whole new TNG shelf. Problem is, I need another whole bookcase to do that. D'oh.

This is the first time I've ever seen a synopsis for the book. It looks amazing. I love archeology... and Picard. I'll have to look for this one.

I'll PUT it with the Lost Era books. Unfortunately, I'll have to wait for my visit to the States in a month to pick it up. Maybe the next DS9 Relaunch book (whose name totally escapes me at the moment) will be out too, and I can get it then. (Please Please Please!!!).

There's another Lost Era book coming too, sooner or later, right? A Sisko book?

TBA is 'a tale of the Lost Era' so that's where I'd put it.

As for Sisko: There were rumors of yet another Lost Era novel: with him on the Okinawa during the Tzenkethi war...

^ More than just a rumour; I believe it was Marco or someone similarly well positioned who stated an intent to do the Picard and Sisko Lost Era books. The real question is whether they still intend to do the Sisko book, and if so what stage it's at.

Fictitiously yours, Trent Roman

Mine's next to the last TNG novel I bought. Whatever that was...it seems like a long time since I bought a TNG novel.

Same here, a damm good book, judging after the first 100 pages. I'll sort it as Lost Era, book 7, despite it's TNG-Cover (Same idea as it's with The Valiant, it's shelved as Stargazer 1, not under TNG).
And the problem with the need of another bookshelf sounds awfuly familiar....

I did the exact same thing. Shelved TBA with The Lost Era and The Valiant with my Stagazer books. To each their own of course...
Also, I just purchased a new bookshelf yesterday for similar reasons. All too familiar...

I could have sworn we recently had a topic on this recently. Darn wibbly-wobby, timey-wimey stuff. :p

Apparently I'm not the only one with to little shelf space. For years now I've been using a tiny three shelf bookshelf I've had since I was little for my Trek books, and now after about 5 years (or so) of buying Trek books I've finally run out of space. I guess that would probably be a big milestone for Trek reading, when you complete your first Trek only bookcase.

preaching to the choir JWolf, I do buy ebooks. It's just I also like hardcopy books.
