Shatner's great and amazingly candid interview of Walter Koenig:

Thank you for posting this! I saw the Koenig interview when it first aired but have long wanted to see it again. Never saw the Nimoy interview before at all.

It would have been interesting to see Shatner interview Nichelle Nichols as well as George Takei.

I think a Nichols' interview could likely have been like Koenig's. I don't know about Takei because I think he's gone off the rails as far as Shatner is concerned.

I have to wonder what Shatner interviewing James Doohan would have been like.

I love Raw Nerve. Shatner is one of the best interviewers I've ever seen. For someone with an ego, he's very good at not making the interview about him. What I mean is, lots of big journalists have a "look at me! I'm doing a hard-hitting interview with [insert name]" vibe about them. Shatner doesn't have that. When you watch him, it's like you're watching a good conversation between friends and because of it, he gets stuff that's more honest and frank. His documentary where he interviewed the Trek captains was the same.

He seems to have a natural curiosity that really comes through in his interviews.

I honestly think Nichelle Nichols would have had the resolve/guts to do a candid interview on camera, and I believe the story Willianm Shatner had about him interviewing her on audio tape for his book; then AFTER the interview concluded and he turned off the tape recorder and things were wrapping up and he was about to head out the door, she said, "Don't you want to know why we all hate you?" - but of course when Shatner proposed restarting the tape recorder, she declined.

But she did speak on the record. It's in the book. She stated exactly why.
