Shatner's effect...

What is your favorite reference either about WILLIAM SHATNER or CAPTAIN KIRK from a source that has nothing to do with Star Trek?

Several weeks back my friends and I watched FIGHT CLUB. I hadn't seen it since it came out and totally forgot about the "wanting to fight William Shatner" line...that is my favorite Kirk/Shatner reference not related to star trek at all.

what are some of yours?

Rob

Dr. Zoidberg's planet in "Futurama." From wiki:

"Why Must I Be a Crustacean in Love" is episode five in season two of Futurama. The plot is an extended parody of the Star Trek episode "Amok Time..."

One of Cohen's inspirations for the character of Dr. Zoidberg's was the fact that Star Trek character Leonard McCoy frequently administered medical treatment to aliens such as Mr. Spock, so Cohen wished human characters in Futurama to be in the uneasy situation of being treated by an alien doctor.

Yeah..I do remember that..

how about Jim Carrey re-inacting AMOK TIME in THE CABLE GUY

Speaking of Carrey, I love his impressions of Shatner (and Scotty) in "Ace Ventura: Pet Detective" when he's looking in the pool. I thought it was funny as a kid when I'd never seen Star Trek, but I love it even more now that I'm familiar with what he was parodying.

Boston Legal was awash in Star Trek in gags. My favorite was the time Denny is sitting at his desk and opens his cell phone, the action was very much like TOS and the sound guys dubbed the original communicator twitter in. I just about fell out of my chair laughing so hard...my wife (not a trekkie type) said nothing and just looked at me like I was nuts...

The guys in the barracks sitting around watching a rerun of "Spock's Brain" in the movie Taps.

There was an amazing "Spock's Brain" parody on The Wonder Years. Fred Savage did a perfect "Shatner in pain during the third season" and I nearly peed myself.

I’m not sure if I have this on DVD its film where it shows a few security night guards watching an episode of Star Trek original.

I was thinking of the same one. Hated the movie, but that scene was hilarious.

I remember a commercial, a few years back, that featured a few hotties at a party. A couple of nerdy guys try to hit on them and the ladies put on a trek episode and they totally forget about the girls; just sit on the couch and say "wooh". I think it might have been a commercial for satellite tv or something.

I can't remember anything about CABLE GUY other than that scene. Someone recently told me that it was still a good movie. I think I'll try to see it again..

I also like the use of the VULCAN hand salute in TOY STORY, which we just watched yesterday.
