Shatner Twilight Zone

The Scifi channel is lazy about programming. Whenever there is a holiday they just slap on the Twilight Zone. So I usually avoid them. I've seen them 80,000 times. I do like the two Shatner episodes. He is so hilarious. The devil head episode is good too. The way he reacts to the machine is great. Nothing beats his incredibly humorous reactions in Terror at 20,000 Feet though.

The original Rod Serling Twilight Zone series is a classic; each and every episode. Sci Fi should show more of classics such as this. A lot of the original programming such as their so-called films are just plain crap.
For every Battlestar Galactica or Tin Man, there are 10 Flash Gordons and 20 ridiculous mutated animal movie; and what the hell is wrestling doing on the Sci Fi Channel?

I say they need to return to their roots: Sci Fi. Lets them run Twilight Zone, Night Gallery, Outer Limits to show the world what good writing and original ideas are all about.

The Twilight Zone marathon on SCIFI is one of my guilty pleasures. I watch it every new years and have been watching it all day. I'm also switching over between it and the Mythbusters marathon on Discovery today as well.

Yeah, the Shat is great in those two eps, his overacting definitely plays well for The Twilight Zone.

I feel obliged to point out that both Shatner episodes, "Nick of Time" and "Nightmare at 20,000 Feet," were scripted by the legendary Richard Matheson.

Not to mention "Little Girl Lost," "Steel," and others . . . .

I only caught a few episodes this marathon, but I'm always amazed at how well they hold up after fifty years . . . .

I actually bought TZ Volume 1 on DVD (no it's not SEASON 1, it's a collection) a few months back for about $15...35 episodes INCLUDING both Shatner episodes.

I've had it all this time and have never popped a disc in. Maybe I'll have my own marathon this weekend. Damn...I just checked the box, my favorite episode "Little Girl Lost" (which was referenced on that Simpsony-show) isn't included! :(

Yeah, I watch as many as I can every year. So I wont complain. :)

But that's the most I've watched SciFi in the past few weeks after all the crappy movies they've been playing. How about some classics once in a while since they wont be showing anything good for the next who knows how many months.

Compared to a scifi channel movie they are super awesome. I just wish scifi would make less movies but have actual quality instead of crap. They have no standards at all. I guess they figure that they can spend about a dollar per movie and still sell commercials.

Someone did a side-by-side of the Shatner and Lithgow versions and made it into a music video. I think the music part kills the whole thing, but here it is for you.

The music is awful. The Shatner one is good for comedy and the faces he makes. The monster is ridiculous-kinda like a floating yeti. The Lithgow monster is freaky. I also enjoy that the passengers and crew see the damage at the end.

Edit: Dan Akroyd's wife is hot! She is a flight attendant.

You don't have to watch it, any more than you have to watch the infomercials that SciFi shows overnight. But they're both indispensable because they pay for the stuff we do want to watch.

Did you ever notice how some of the TZ episodes have a really clear looking black and white picture like the footage of Ruby shooting Oswald, and some have a grainy looking picture like Leave it to Beaver? What's up with that?

Whitey don't go there.

meh, the Seth Green Tales from the Darkside ep was better...and i Watched the Moral Orel-athon instead of TZ, which I find too played out

Some episodes were shot Live I believe using studio video cameras. I believe they switched to film at a later point.
