Shatner To Play Paul James Kirk, His own Father?...

You do know that Kirk's father is named George, right?

The only George Kirk I'm aware of is George Samuel Kirk, James T's brother, played by William Shatner in Operation Annihilate; I've never heard or seen anything onscreen identifying the names of his parents.

I wouldn't have known it without looking it up, but it seems that one or more novels have James T's brother as George Samuel, Junior, and thus their father would very likely also be George. George Samuel, Jr., is rumored to be making an appearance in the movie.

None of it is actually canon at this point, to my knowledge, but there you go.

K'riq Sa may, of course, wish to revise his conjecture slightly in light of this. ;)

I already know that the Shat will be in the new Trek movie......the voices in my head told me so.......cant get anymore concrete evidence than that.

Eh, I never consider the novels to be a reliable source, that's why I included the qualifyer 'on screen' in my statement. According to the novels, we're to belive that at one point, Picard and company fought along side the X-men; I don't think so.

With the exception of the novelization of First Contact, I haven't read any of the novels, which is why I needed to look it up. However, I am aware that most people likewise do not consider the novels to be any sort of real or official authority on Star Trek canon; I was agreeing with you and offering some small elaboration on the topic.

TNG and X-Men, hmmm? Interesting, maybe; fun, possibly; but a bit silly, I think.

I hear you. And to be fair, I see no reason why if they have his father in it, his name couldn't be Sam; It seems pretty fitting to me.

His name is George in the non canon novels but it will become canon when Star Trek XI is released since Kirk's father is in the film and his name will be George. Hikaru was Sulu's first name in the novels and it later became canon when mentioned in Star Trek VI.

Besides, we know that Chris Hemsworth, whoever he is, has been cast in the role of George Kirk. ;)

According to IMDB, Chris Hemsworth is twenty five years old, so my guess would be that he's Jim's brother. however, there's a sixteen year old kid named Spencer Daniels who's rumored to be playing a George Samuel Kirk Junior Now if he's George Senior's kid, the guy would have to have been nine when he had him; Not to mention that George's son is Peter Kirk. On top of that, if Hemsworth is instead actually playing Jim's father, he would have had to have conceived him three years before he himself was even born, since Pine is twenty eight. Somehow the math just isn't helping here; Time paradox indeed. The best I can figure, is that Hemsworth may play father to an as yet unnamed younger Jim, and Daniels would instead be Jim's brother George, who's still has the problem of not being too much younger than Hemsworth. If anybody else has a theory, by all means; My head's about to implode.

It's quite simple. We see Kirk's father in the movie as a young man with a pregnant wife. She's carrying James Kirk inside her. The movie takes place in several time periods. We see James Kirk and his older brother Sam as children in another time period.

I'm not sure we'll necessarily be seeing Kirk's father with a pregnant wife, but maybe when they were younger and just starting out as a family. Did anything confirm we'd see Kirk's mom when she was pregnant?

Edit: Nevermind! Found the article on Trekmovie.com so I guess we are!

Would have made a good movie. Stewart would have been paid double.

I think I heard that they even made a small refrence about the resemblence in the book, which I belive was actually published a few years before the first X-Men movie.
I have this book. It's been years since I've read it, but I think it was a pretty fun read. :techman:
I mean as far as an X-Men / TNG crossover book can be.
