Shatner should be in it - Random News People on the Internet

Yes. I just randomly streamed this thing from the Fox News Channel called the "Strategy Room" after hearing of its existence. And they were talking about the Star Trek movie. Apparently they believe Shatner should be in it. Not sure if it is archived or anything. Is this the view of the mainstream? One of the guys was obviously a Trekkie. One even did a "KHAAAAN!"

Yeah, it was stupid.

"There is no such thing as bad publicity except your own obituary."

For fucks sake....

This Shatner is/should/could have been in it is never going to end, is it ? :scream:

L:lol:L

Seriously, this debate will go on until Shatner is forcibly thrust into a movie by his bollocks, by that time, he wont want to do it...

Actually, on second thought, Shatner would do it if he was dead, nothing will stop him.

If the movie is an alternate timeline/universe like the new BSG, there's no reason for Shatner to appear anyway.

Well a person of great authority and this person is also NEVER wrong advised me that this film is lacking an appearance by Mr. Shatner due to his public arbitration of his salary and role....both of which were unsatisfactory to him, therefore, he opted to not be included in the film and the filmakers decided not to have him.

I agree it woulda been nice in some way for him to appear, just to further help ease the transition between "new and old"......there are plenty of others who disagree with that...certain TOS haters if you will. I have no particular love for William Shatner but I do love me some Jim Kirk -- will the real Jim Kirk please stand up, please stand up, please stand up?

he did, for me, last night ;)

The folks at FOX do realize that this matter has been discussed for quite a while now, and that the movie is actually being shown in final form?

This has turned into a dead horse that's been beaten, then put through Shatner's "Return" series of books to be beat to death many more times (and the poor horse didn't even agree to kill itself in Generations!)

Plus like Shatner said in an interview his Kirk is dead.

But why should a little trivial, minute detail like that get in the way? :guffaw:

Can't we maniupulate the story any way we like....hey I have an idea..they can use a time travel theme/alt timeline....that's never been done ! :guffaw:

I have been told the same thing by several people who should know. We were both told just about the same thing about Mr. Shatner.

It seems to be the worst kept secret in Star Trek that Shatner was offered a cameo role that he turned down due to his contact and his desire for a far bigger role than the movie could support.

I haven't followed anything about this movie, truth be told until I joined this board a month ago or so, I really didn't know any details about the film......so I was blissfully ignorant (emphasis on rant LOL). But if this is true and the onus is on Shatner for not making this happen because of his ego and greed then fuck em.

Were they actually making arguments and providing thought to back them up? Or was it more like an internet board where "Kirk should be in the movie because he needs to be in the movie"?

More like, "wasn't he Captain Kirk? He should be in it. Nimoy is in it, even though he is not playing Spock..."
