Shatner Rules (in hardcover)

^ For those who might be wondering, Chris Regan is an Emmy-award comedy writer, formerly of The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, so you can anticipate a few chuckles in this tome. (Chris was also a college classmate of mine, which probably makes me the only person on this board who will be buying the book primarily because of his name on the cover.)

:Note - just in case anyone buys this and is disappointed, it does *not* explain the pocket books 'Shatnerverse'!

:guffaw

so is this a star trek releated fiction book? and if not when will he get back to those?

If I remember things correctly, probably never. I remember hearing after his last Young Kirk/Spock novel came out he was unhappy with Pocket, and I think he decided he wasn't going to work with them anymore.

Well, he felt that Pocket didn't give it the same marketing support as previous Shatner ST novels had enjoyed, he was annoyed that Simon & Schuster Audio passed on doing an audio novel adaptation of it, and was miffed that he had no further contract to do a sequel. Sales were lower than expectation (we surmise) so... unless Shatner pitches another "Academy" novel, the editors may not pursue him for one.

well that sucks I liked his star trek books. any idea if he plans to go back to his tek war series?

I seem to recall the rights to create any new "Tek War" stories got very messy - caught up in legal red tape following the sale of the original premise to movies, two different comics, trading cards, etc.
