But if any fan in here or elsewhere can have an opinion on this matter so can the guy who has been playing Kirk for decades.

I think he has a point. It's the Enterprise; it's not like they added a bunch of stuff and turned it into some other ship from some other franchise. The overall shape and design says Enterprise, and in the grand scheme of things, the neck being moved slightly back, and other details really don't matter so much.
