Shatner on Broadway - Review and Spoilers

Thank you very much for this review. It is easy to see how Shatner is just milking his fame once more. Relying heavily on film clips rather than acting out those moments himself... just seems like such a letdown. I have no interest in seeing an overweight sweaty old version of the William Shatner I've enjoyed so much on screen for Star Trek. His appearance these days symbolizes Denny Crane. Fine for Boston Legal fans, I guess. Not me. Pass.

Excellent review. I'd still want to see the show for myself, make my own judgments, but a review like this can give me a good idea of what I would be going to see. It's written from an open-minded perspective that doesn't run off the rails, go into tangents or gloss over the less-than-stellar bits. It's fair and quite well-written.

I've never, ever cared about what Shatner might be like as a person. I dig his acting, and I dig his sense of humor. I've always tried to separate the art from the artist. It's nice when you find out that someone whose creative work you enjoy is warm, affable and engaging on a personal level, but it's not essential to me.
