SHATNER/KIRK: An Admission, an Apology, and a Vote

Re: An Admission, an Apology, and a Vote

Hello, my name is Samuel T. Cogley, and I am a Star Trek fan. Or, at least, I thought I was.

Chorus: Hi Sam!
<SNIP!>

:guffaw: ... the scary thing is that this takes sooo many comments from people here, mixes 'em, and lays it out in a great narrative. Funny stuff again Sam, ya hit the nail about the personalities of some Trekkies... who shall remain nameless.

You missed my point.

Damn. I knew I should have made my post longer.

So the point of that whole thing was, what... that you like Shatner? Um, okay. Glad to hear it.

That was part of it. Your responses have also helped demonstrate some of the frustrating "logic" that I detailed in my original post.

Option 4: Chicken a la King

Sheesh, Sam, do ya still have fingertips left after that?! My hat, gloves and codpiece are off to you - make something attractive out of them. :bolian:

Re: An Admission, an Apology, and a Vote

ha-brillianr post and so very true. " I like Shatner..but.." My god, how many times have we seen the backhanded compliments fly after that littel preface. lol

The Shatner-phobes sure as hell won't like the mirror being held that close their faces. But yeah, all so very true.

Re: An Admission, an Apology, and a Vote

Anytime Ptrope says my post was too long, it's official. I've gone off the deep end.

Re: An Admission, an Apology, and a Vote

For those of you who don't want to read the full thread, I have condensed it into a short version, using only verbatim quotations (well, I cut out large bits to tie it together). I believe it accurately summarises Cogley's arguments.

I... like Captain James T. Kirk.
I... insist that Shatner and/or Kirk is GOD and is PERFECT and that everything he touches turns to gold!
I... INSIST that Shatner MUST be in Star Trek XI!

I did also rant about how fucking cool he is here. (I noticed that some anonymous Mod finally did alter my thread title, by the way. Girlyman. )

Re: An Admission, an Apology, and a Vote

The description of the OP as "too long to read" was the option that made most sense to me. However, I couldn't agree with the characterization of STC as an "unfunny drama queen," and so I shall abstain from voting or further participation here.

Re: An Admission, an Apology, and a Vote

It's sackcloth and ashes for you, Cog. Revelations and insights of such a nature should not be revelated or insighted. Insook. Insighterated. Yeah.

ITL - Shatner fan. Shhh!

Re: An Admission, an Apology, and a Vote

Sadly, I created this thread only a few hours before wishing Shatner dead became fashionable to some here. Just when I thought I had been exaggerating.

Is it too late to edit my original post? I would hate for anyone to feel left out.

Re: An Admission, an Apology, and a Vote

I'm wishing this thread dead.

Re: An Admission, an Apology, and a Vote

I get the sense that this was, in part, a response to my post from Friday on this topic, so I feel compelled to say that there is nothing in this dialogue that I disagree with.

It's the people who say that Shatner must be in the movie--and, conversely, the ones who say that Shatner must not be in the movie--who bug me and derail so many threads. Personally, I think Shatner is da Shiznat, and I'd love to see him in the film.

A well-written defense. On second thought, I do disagree with you regarding whether Shatner has a right to be hurt, and I think he has been downright rude the last few weeks, but I by no means hate Shatner.

Or Star Trek V. I know that's heresy, too. But I love that one.
