Shatner and the refurbished Enterprise

This. I was going to post, "Trek's 50. Shatner's 85."
I've gotta say, though, Shatner's the most energetic 85-year-old I've ever seen. I saw him on stage at the Star Trek: Mission New York con this past weekend, and he never stopped moving during his Q&A session. He was walking back and forth across the stage for an hour or more. Walter Koenig, who appeared right before Shatner, was much more subdued. I hope I'm in as good of shape as Shatner when I hit 85.

For sure, I saw him in Toronto last weekend as well. He didn't have near as much energy as in Montreal in July but still, for a man in his mid 80's he is going strong. Of course we don't see the after math of these shows, but he must love what he's doing as he obviously doesn't need the money.

Also, he must have the best plastic surgeon in Hollywood.

This thread reminds me of the "fan" uproar when Shatner didn't charter a private jet to fly overnight from a charity event to Nimoy' funeral.

Candidly back in the day did Shatner, or any of the cast, ever have a chance to even see the 11 footer? It wasn't filmed on the same premises as the show unlike the Galileo shuttlecraft mockup. And has any of the cast commented on the Galileo being restored?
Actually, at the time, the facilities of the Howard Anderson Company (which filmed all the FX footage of the 11-foot Enterprise) were located on the Desilu lot. So it's possible that Shatner (or any of the other Trek cast) could have seen the miniature in the flesh, as it were.

I stand corrected.

I think this is one of the best Shatner quotes I've ever read (copied from IMDB):

I am not a Starfleet commander, or T.J. Hooker. I don't live on Starship NCC-1701, or own a phaser. And I don't know anybody named Bones, Sulu or Spock. And no, I've never had green alien sex, though I'm sure it would be quite an evening. I speak English and French, not Klingon! I drink Labatt's, not Romulan ale! And when someone says to me "Live long and prosper", I seriously mean it when I say, "Get a life." My doctor's name is not McCoy, it's Ginsberg. And tribbles were puppets, not real animals. PUPPETS! And when I speak, I never, ever talk like every. Word. Is. Its. Own. Sentence. I live in California, but I was raised in Montreal. And yes, I've gone where no man has gone before, but I was in Mexico and her father gave me permission! My name is William Shatner, and I am Canadian!

If memory (and reading) serves, the 11-foot model was used by the Howard Anderson Company located on the Desilu lot, so there would have been a slight possibility the cast could have seen the model (on a lunch/coffee break).
When the model was filmed by Linwood Dunn's Film Effects of Hollywood, however, that was not on the lot.

On Instagram this morning:

He's just as energetic and more on the "Better Late Than Never" show..... funny stuff there.
