I usually don't keep a keyboard/mouse for more than a year or two at a time, those things get really disgusting and are almost uncleanable...
Put it in the dishwasher... seriously.

Actually I take it apart and only put in the keys attached to the top face so I don't have to wait forever for it to dry.

 I used to pull off the keys and put them in a cloth sack and put it in the washer (no dishwasher in my home!) -works OK too ;)

I think I have the same computer as you Flux. Same things, though the graphics might be a different number, I don't quite remember (not at home right now to check). Only difference is that I have Vista 64-bit.

It was on sale at Fry's.

Vista HP 64-bit
Intel Core2Duo E8400 3Ghz
4GB DDR2
500GB SATA HD
ATI Radeon HD 4850 512MB
Acer p201w 20" at 1680x1050

Sounds like an awesome set-up, although I'd recommend the 64-bit version of Vista, as the 32-bit will limit your RAM upgrade ability to 3GB.

For compatibility's sake, I'm going to stick with 32-bit. I plan to upgrade to Windows 7 before too long.

Win7 32bit will have the same limitations, any 32bit OS will.

I know. I even wrote a very long winded post explaining why a while ago. I would get a 64-bit version of Windows 7.

It's a pity the world doesn't just agree on one name for each country and leave it at that. Preferably the name said country likes to refer to itself by. So presumptuous to force a name on to a nation which sounds nothing like the original.

All in all, I'm very satisfied with things. I don't see a need for any upgrades for a long time. Well, except for more hard drive space at some point, I guess (or alternatively a BD burner).

My rig is _old_. I've been a student for 5 years now, so I really don't have the money to buy a new one. Fortunately, I just got my diploma, so that'll change.

- Shuttle SB86i barebone case with
- Shuttle FB86 motherboard (Intel 915P/ICH6 chipset) and a
- Shuttle 150w specialized power supply.

- Intel Pentium 4 3Ghz with HT (Prescott core)
- 2x GEiL (Golden Empire) 512mb CL2-3-3-3 PC3500 DDR Ram
- nVidia GeForce 9600 GSO / 384mb
- Sitecom micro WiFi-G adapter
- Tatum V32MGCI 32" TV with HD-Ready resolution 1360x768p as a monitor -- hurts my eyes but my girlfriends monitor failed so she's got my Samsung Syncmaster 930BF 19" 1280x1024p.
- Samsung 250Gb SP2504C SATA hard drive
- Shuttle DVD-combo in brushed aluminum
- Sitecom USB PCI card
- Microsoft Curve 2000 keyboard (with leather Ergonomique wristpad)
- Logitech G5 laser mouse

All connected via Optical TOS-link cable to a Marantz SR-3001 reciever with a JBL surround set.

It's fortunate I know a thing or two of computers; I'm in the (web-)design & (web-)development business and I can tell you, having a few Adobe CS3 programs + Apache + 20 Firefox screens + development IDE's open at the same time really stresses my beastie out. Adobe wouldn't even install, at first. Fortunately, with a little tweaking of the setup files and the stripping of Windows XP to the bone, I took care of that.

But I do need to buy a new one soon; both the power supply (which you can't buy seperately -- not an ATX format), the hard drive, the DVD combo drive and the motherboard seem to be on the verge of failure.

Lots of times the damn thing doesn't even boot, every program continously slows down due to the heads of the harddrive seemingly spinning endlessly (no, it's not the swapfile , free space or fragmentation or anything -- it's just at it's last legs), USB devices only get intermittent power (makes my internet connection disconnect and my mp3 player crash when it's connected) and I can watch DVD's only for about a half our or so when you get to the part where the lens doesn't take it anymore and the datastream gets interrupted continuously. Sigh.

But at the time I put it together, I loved the damn thing. :D

2007 revision Apple iMac. 2.4GHz Core2Duo, a bunch of other stuff. I only really have a sllight desire to upgrade my RAM and frankly that's unnecessary.

Even though I'm Dutch, I somewhat agree; just make English the primary language world-wide, and use those names. Problem solved. :D

This system is about six years ikd, though has been upgraded from time to time.

Intel pentium 4 2.4Ghz processor
150G hard drive
ATI Radeon 1050 video card
ASUS motherboard (don't know model)
Microsoft wireless desktop
HP external DVD-RW
Samsung CD-Rom
Samsung CR-RW
Dell 15 inch monitor

So, that's a quad core (dual dual-core) with an 'ok' amount of RAM in it. Well, actually it's fine for now. Once they update my apps to true 64-bit next year I might get more RAM, but at the moment they're not using all 6 GB anyway, so there's no point in buying more just yet.

I've got about 4 TB of hard drive space at the moment. (With another 1 TB backup drive, which is obviously not backing up all my files!)

Graphics is an ATI RadeonX1900 with 512 MB of RAM. Not the greatest, but not the worst. Good enough for what I need it to do.

My machine is getting old. :(

I have a PC, with a dual Pentium D CPU 3.00GHz, 2Gb Ram, 250Gb HDD (with an additional 500Gb external Drive), and an nVidia GeForce 7300 LE.
It runs Windows XP Pro Service Pack 3.
