Shards and Shadows review thread (SPOILERS)

KRAD

Keith R.A. DeCandido
Admiral
Given that the other Shards and Shadows thread isn't a spoiler one, necessitating people putting several paragraphs of text behind a spoiler tag, I figured it would make more sense just to start a new spoiler thread rather than have flipping great wodges of text under the button.

So have at it: whadja think?

Thanks man, all I want to do is whine because Amazon hasn't shipped my copy yet and I have to scroll past a mine field of spoiler tags!!! ;)

Ive only gotten through 3 stories so far, but i think they are all great so far. It gives a little clarity into events that took place before during and after all the episodes, and stories from the other MU volumes. I hope they come out with more!

I got my book a few days ago I glanced at the stories. It looks like another great story collection to add to the other Mirror universe book series..:techman:

I'm just curious, does the DS9 story figure any into events described in the DS9 relaunch, kinda like Obsidian Alliances did with Saturn's Children?

I'm not sure I understand your question, but parts of my DS9 story "A Terrible Beauty" pick up right after "Saturn's Children" (but take place before the events in Warpath and Fearful Symmetry).

Several DS9 and DS9 relaunch characters are in the story, as well as a few other familiar and not-so-familiar faces.

Hope that helps!

I started Nobunga by Dave Stern . Poor Trip is really being put through the wringer. Is he having flashbacks of the past or is someone manipulating his thoughts to get important imformation about the new starship?

I liked "For Want of a Nail". Who would have thought Barclay and K'Ehleyr would make such a great team? :D

(And as per the last line, I hope they really do live to see the completion of Memory Omega's work and the fall of the Alliance)

Thanks -- glad you liked my story!

Favourite story so far is the Keiko O'Brien one, nicely explains her actions.
I like this compilation, not as much as the others but it is good. I tend to skip certain stories and read the one's i want to read first, ill get back to the one's i skipped later.

I just finished Nobunaga during one of my breaks and lunch, and I really enjoyed it. It was really good character based story. I especially liked the end, which does actually bring up a spoiler question
is T'Pol a Rebel?
9/10

I just started Ill Winds yesterday (I took break today to work on more Day of the Eagles), and I was wondering if any of the characters in the story other than the Aprils are mirror versions of characters we have seen before? I haven't read any of the Pre-TOS (non-Ent) books, so I don't know any of the characters from that period.

Hmm, I'm kinda suprised by how slow this thread has been. I thought the MU stuff was alot more popular than this.

Ask and thou shall receive. Nice to see the Daa'Vit again. Though I wish we'd see what they're up to in the mainstream Universe. Thanks, MJF!

I won't have my copy for a few weeks as it's being shipped across by a steam boat me thinks so I can't really give comment on it.

As for others, I can't really speak for anyone else, but maybe, they are busy with other things. :bolian:

Yeah, I can see that. I just figured this would be one of the bigger threads, that's all.

I am disappointed...it's only 1 volume. I'm up to James Swallow The Black Flag & I'm wishing the stories were as long as the ones in Glass Empires/Obsidian Alliances. The first two volumes were the first Trek anthologies I read cover to cover (the brilliance of anthologies is you can dip in & out of them, reading a story at a time). I've enjoye this volume so far, just wish the stories were longer.
