Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings: The Rising and Advancing of the Spirit

Huh, I didn't expect that to actually be Wong. I almost feel like it would've been better if it was just a random mystics arts sorcerer than to have it specifically Wong.

Leads to the question of why was he there in a cage fight with Abomination? Doesn't seem like the kind of thing he would be doing.

Of course, that also leads to the question of what has Abomination been doing this whole time under the radar? I figure that'll be answered in She-Hulk so I don't need that question answered here.

I think it‘s interesting that we‘ll see Wong out on an adventure of his own.
Even if it‘s just a random cameo.
Adds another dimension (pun intended) to his character beyond Doctor Strange‘s sidekick.

unless they go out of their way to mention he‘s there on Strange‘s behest.

Put your faith in the arms of Kevin Feige and ye shall be rewarded.

So far that really rings true - it still amazes me how someone can string such a series of movies together and build up an overarching story that works out in the end. Sure there have been issues along the way, directors who wouldn't want to work within the story limits Marvel decided on and so on but it is a major feat.

I'm really looking forward how the next phases will develop - so far i have absolutely no clue if there will be a big storyline again or rather some miniarcs, all i can safely assume is that the Multiverse will play a major part ( and even that may not turn out as i imagine it).

Given how fast Covid rates are falling here in Germany i'm starting to get back into the movie theatre, since i'm also fully vaccinated. I need that experience again and Marvel movies are perfect for a movie night at the theatre.

The trailer music, or did you find the score for the movie somewhere?

They say the music was recorded at the famous Abbey Road Studios but to my ears the music sounds like it was made by someone who can't compose and is tone deaf. I hear grunts, I hear people screeching into a microphone, I hear a sample of a drum roll looped and repated, I hear sounds of instruments sampled but I still hear noise and not actual film soundtrack score, I don't think I want to listen to this 'music' ever again. I'm not against electronic sounds or electronical type music but what they have in the trailer sounds terrible, it sounds more like amateur soundcloud noise than a musical film score.
Marvel have been lazy with score but sometimes guys like Silvestri would step in, add sound to Marvel otherwise it would be souless, there are times it needed those epic Strings and Horns and other layers of composition. The Marvel brand I feel typically lacked the epic scores you had in the classic Supermans and Batmans, a silly trailer like this just showcases how poor some of the Marvel music can be but then again maybe I'm getting old and maybe music is getting more simple with Xfactor, pop and rap and such stuff on tv. The sound guys are getting paid big money in a $120+ million US Dollar movie I hope they can make music to fit the film, I hope its not just flashy beats and noise blasted out,
I hope they are not tone deaf and know how compose and to make chords without sound sample and some auto tuned crap pumped out by a software machine, there are a bunch of audio engineers in the film credits but no Hans Zimmer, Dun Tan, Yo-Yo Ma, no Ryuichi Sakamoto, Koji Kondo, John Williams, no James Newton Howard, no tv name like Angelo Badalamenti, no decent respecful pop name no Bowie, no Wendy & Lisa, no name like a Prince, Nile Rodgers, no Phil Collins no Queen, no decent rock music composer, no Alan Silvestri, Danny Elfman, I don't recgonize a single name so I expect the music to be crap from the trailer but I might be proven wrong.
Anyways if you don't get what I'm talking about, to start you off let's just begin with 'the beat' on some of the nasty stuff I'm hearing here or maybe listen to some other person... try a vid called 'What's Up With The Hi Hat rant, Bro? by Rick Beato, this guy Beato has a great music channel. I hope he's still on youtube but he might be banned because he's always getting copyright striked for explanation of common notes and sounds in songs, he has an audio engineering channel on youtube explaining songs and how to engineer your own stuff, people these days are destroying music and going for this nasty clicking insect cicada sound, the noise distracts and destroys whatever harmonies and groove and melody you got going by blasting out this crunchy treble and clicky high mid-noise over what should be nice sound...I don't know maybe that's the noise people enjoy listening to these days, but I perfered when tradional bass and drum and melody was played by real people or had a real groove to it and people tuned their instruments by human ear. I don't know maybe I'm getting old or something and maybe everyone listens to this crunchy noisy soundcloud samples of other plastic noises cut digitally and sampled again and again until there is nothing but false noisy plastic left behind, the types of noises found on ReverbNation, myspace, Noisetrade type stuff these days.

Michelle Yeoh talked to Collider about her character, giving us a small idea what to expect:

“We are so happy that we are having our first Asian superhero. And not just superhero but superheroines around him as well, and I am a guardian of a mythical city. These young people come in and they have to learn how to protect history, and to protect not just this world but the worlds that are around us from the demons that are locked away. So it’s magic, it’s reality, so many things happening and it’s a lot of fun.”

I know I said it before but, shit, poor Asian TV cast members being written out of Marvel history like this.

It helps when all the storylines had already been written to be fair. But sure the way they picked which ones to use and adapted them into film was obviously very well done for the most part.

History is written by the winners, in this case the movies and the Disney+ shows.

It's sad that the MCU is not acknowledging good shows like Daredevil. Punisher and for a good while Agents of Shield ( my opinion of course) - partly i understand why ( time constraints) but they simply didn't fit into the MCU plan at all and so were ignored.

This is the "darker" part of the shiny MCU universe that likes to present itself as one shiny, gigantic happy family but i'm 100% sure that behind the ironclad curtain there must have been disagreements and maybe even fights. We only see this when the fallout can't be hidden, i.e. directors leaving projects or roles recast.

Make no mistake - this is the quintessential Disney DNA. Happy public face but out of sight of the public an extremely tough behaving "my way or the highway" type of company.

I'm not referring to the show's being removed from canon, I'm referring to the casts being thrown under the bus to advertise Shang Chi as "Marvel's first Asian Superhero!" when there have been multiple Asian superheroes in leading roles in the shows already. And then there is Wong, who is even in the trailer for Shang Chi...

Edit:. This isn't to say it isn't important to have the first Asian movie lead, it is, just disappointed Disney is doing it by pretending their previous Asian superheroes didn't exist in the name of marketing.

I got what you were saying--as a fan of AoS, the comment bothered me a little as well; but I guess it is similar to Black Panther hype completely ignoring Wesley Snipes and Mike Colter.

Snipes makes sense because Marvel didn't have anything to do with Blade. And Civil War actually came out before Luke Cage.
