I don't think it's expected for SG to have the viewer-ship that ST does. It's getting more popular, but I don't think it will ever reach ST's popularity. They'll have to really pick up on SG fast, that premiere could've been packed into an hour instead of dragging, and lacks the wit and humour SG-1 had.

Do ratings even matter anymore?

They matter as much as they ever did, as far as the money that SyFy can charge sponsors to advertise on the show is concerned. And SyFy does not make money off of MGM's DVD sales.

they should have aired W13 with SGU on fridays . . . Warehouse 13 had great ratings, so if it were SGU's lead-in the numbers might look better
