I agree with others who have said gunshot death>suffocation.

It may seem harsh but they are low-ish on bullets, don't waste . Also Young could not of shot him because the others would know, Young helped and he didn't have a gun on him so giving him one is just a similar problem.

As for the gate, there's a minimum threshold for the kawoosh to form. It's something like a few millimeters or something from the front of the gate.

Yeah, otherwise "bury your gate" wouldn't have been an occasional SGC recommendation to other planets.

I guess that's pretty much it, if they'd heard a gunshot they'd all have known what happened, this way its very ambiguous--TJ and the others might suspect, but they don't know for sure. Plus even sticking a gun to his head isn't a guarentee of killing him.

Man I like this show, such a shame its probably going to end up canned. Young has to be one of the most interesting and three dimensional commanding officers we've ever seen in Sci-Fi.

I think it'll be interesting to see who breaks down first, Young or Rush. I think Franklin was the Destiny's computer trying to talk to him, but I think his wife is all in his head! And it'll be interesting to see just how long Rush can keep his knowledge of the bridge a secret.

Glad they got rid of most of the LA, though that planet didn't seem the most habitable of places so lord knows if they'd survive.

You do have to wonder at what point Earth will put Telford in charge.

I didn't see him do that. I saw Destiny dial out, then I saw the team walk through. There was a cut which could have been a time jump, but it wasn't at all clear.

 

[The Wormhole]

The way I interpreted the scene was that both Destiny and Eli dialled at nearly the same moment, but Eli mad the connection quicker. There is precedent for this sort of thing going as far back as season 1 of SG-1. Though I admit the way the scene was shot did make it rather confusing.

SCOTT: D'you feel that?

(The trembling becomes more violent. Greer turns and points to Volker and Eli.)

GREER: Hey, science guys. This thing is shakin'.

WALLACE: It's trying to dial in.

(He and Volker scramble up.)

VOLKER: Clear the event horizon!

(He and the military crew start rapidly hauling the last few rocks out from the ground inside the circle of the Gate while Eli grabs his remote and activates it.)

WALLACE: The address is here! We've got Destiny!

GREER: Uh, the shaking's stopped.

WALLACE: Everyone back away! I'm gonna try to dial them.

(The team moves back a little and Eli types on the remote. The chevrons light up and the Gate starts to spin. Eli laughs in triumph.)

WALLACE: It's working. It's working!

The fact that the shaking had stopped meant that Destiny's dialing had failed, probably because of the rocks that were still on the gate, in any event Eli dialed them back and got them.

Quite frankly, does it matter? This is about making Riley's death as humane and "easy" as possible. That should come first, not Young having to go outside and explain it. TJ would have believed him straight away.

I actually thought the suffocation was quite uncomfortable to watch, obviously that was the point, but still
