SG-U – Light (1x05) - (Live Commentary | SPOILERS)

Well I don't know about the rest of you but when they found out they were on collision course with the star I knew it was how it replenished its energy. My guess right now is that the power core is based on some sort of fusion using elemental hydrogen or Deuterium.

Chloe and Scott... remember, she's a Senator's daughter who also worked in his office. She's around pretty boys, smart boys, and powerful boys. Makes perfect sense to me she's drawn to authority.

I've seen this myself. When I became a supervisor and behaved with more authority the rest of the time I found girls were attracted to me much more than before. I think it would be the same for straight people too.

Hmmm... if I were straight... and thirty years younger... who would I pick? An overweight MIT dropout or a handsome guy in uniform who can fly an F-302?

Disappointed that they went the route of having Chloe shack up with Lt. Homecoming King, but at least Eli now gets to have revenge sex with Lt. Double-D's.

I was a little disappointed that they didn't do something about the Chole/Matt thing from Vanessa's angle as well as Eli's.

My problem is that the relationship came out of nowhere.

But apparently that's okay because, also out of nowhere, the writers were nice enough to add some exposition telling us that the relation has actually been going on for several days! So nice of them to do that! Despite absolutely no proof or even the slightest hint that this was the case. At any point in time whatsoever.

Please hire new writers. Please.

Not even the slightest hint? At least two scenes.
1) Scott consoling Chloe at the end of Air Part 2 at the observation deck.
2) Chloe visiting Scott at Air Part 3

I don't think anyone's objecting to a story where 2 people who've only just met, fall in lust with each other. What happened with Chloe and Scott is that the story is trying to make us believe that they've emotionally connected since coming aboard Destiny, while we the audience, haven't seen that much... Her emotional bondings onscreen have been with Eli. So it's once again (cough McKay and Keller), the lack of, in the opinion of some, proper setup to accept they'd hook up while professing having deeply connected. If the writers would just be honest-2 people thinking they're about to die, get it on one last time to comfort themselves, no problem. But they're acting as if it's some great Harlequin epic, or worse, a WB sweeps period episode of One Tree Hill. ;)

I think they are. Sex alone tends to make people uncomfortable. If they were to do what you suggested, people would be complaining about that too.

I don't think the show was trying to make us believe that they had an actual relationship. What they gave us was one person who likes to get sex where he can and another who's vulnerable and confused. It's sort of a false intimacy and I thought that came through clearly.

For Chloe, yes, it would be out of character. For that girl Scott was with in the pilot? Nobody cared about that except for its relation to the "BSG-ishness".

Which makes her weak and him an asshole. Not exactly the best move from the writers' room if they're trying to get us to care about these people.

^ I don't know if it's out of character. A lot of people you wouldn't suspect would do (and have done) the same thing, we just don't see it. What I like about SGU is that we did see it even if I don't like what Chloe did to Eli.

As for the sex in the pilot, it did look like people were complaining that it was pointless independent of any BSG reference.
