SG-U – Air part 3 (1x03) - (Live Commentary | SPOILERS)

The twister is probably what turned the planet into a desert.

I really hate the shaky cam.

So what do you think happened to the ones who went to that other planet.

My guess is that either they are stuck there, or the shuttle which detached itself from the ship is some form of automated retrieval program.

I don't know, that thing looked extremely out of place, as if it was different technology altogether.

Having rewatched the last few minutes of the episode, it is clear you are correct. The vessel is merely attached to a random point on Destiny, and, upon detaching, appears to have some sort of energy shield, and vents an orangish plasma as it flies off.

One episode in, and they are already stealing plot devices from Sliders? This is clearly a tornado attracted to their electronic devices, as seen in "Electric Twister Acid Test."
I thought you were joking, then I looked it up.

The difference being, it didn't involve Jerry O'Connell, and was therefore several hundred times better.

as for the ship flying off at the end, I could have sworn we saw that same vessel on the first visual sweep over the ship. It was further back than the shuttles, and larger.

Re: SG-U

I think they are going to die

I wasn't watching closely at that point but when the second team gated to the desert didn't they bring a kino. I figured off screen, maybe in a deleted scene Eli saw them dead on the other world. Filled in the blanks on my own you could say. If the show last will they come back like Ford? Probably.

It seemed to be attracted to water, rather than electronics.
