I liked it. I would give it 7/10 and 7/10 as a whole for the 3 parter. The characters are pretty good and it was good to see L D Phillips again, why is angry man so angry though but atleast he isn't boring like Ford was.
That little ship has me intrigued that detached itself at the end.

That seemed better than it would have done because she was the wife of a US senator and friend of the President, it seemed that she had some pull in Washington, or at least believed she did. A bit more significant a threat than, say, Martin Lloyd was, and harder to make 'disappear'. Still, you're right, I hope they revisit this or it's just an empty threat.

I'm not sure how much of a real threat it could be - I guess it depends on whether she's got any kind of proof other than going on the evening news and claiming that her daughter visited her from across the universe by possessing the body of someone else...

Well, here's the thing... unless the dude was some anonymous junior senator, they'd have to make some kind of elaborate cover story to cover up his death to the public. He's probably not the equivalent of Ted Kennedy, but I imagine a senator's death would garner some attention. That'd be her opportunity to at least suggest "conspiracy!!!!" in public and not be summarily dismissed.

I wonder, will they really run out of guns, and bullets, and supplies in coming weeks? Is there a supply of razors onboard that someone was lucky to bring, or will the fact that all the men will stay neatly beardless be ignored?

Man, if they actually have them running out of bullets and growing beards and stick to it, that's worth an extra chevron per episode all by itself (can you tell I'm a freak about story logic?) ;)

First off, a side note: I don't get why some people are throwing out "I hated this" "I hated that"; I don't even think they understand what "hate" is. To use it as a description for an emotion against something as unimportant as imaginary characters on a TV show seems wholly unrealistic.
<snip>
I love the contemporary music at the end.
<snip>
I loved how much time they spent on the actual ship

Hmm, interesting...
I hate his review, but I love your response. :shifty:

Honestly got to say not as bad as i thought it would be. As one of the first haters of this show concept and kind of leaked the show info here thats saying alot.

But still i found part 3 boring and really didnt care that the girls dad died and had to tell her mom, and that part was just over done, i only cared about the mission on the planet and the rest just didnt do much for me. Guess i just love the action adventure stuff of SG-1 and wish the drama part be second fiddle.

Outside of Eli, i cant stand rest of the crew, they are all assholes so its hard to sit and watch drama parts with them when i wish they all be replaced with likeable characters.

And since they can use the stones, why cant they do that with both McKay and Carter and they have the ship fixed in a hour and it be back home in end of the season?

Hell Mckay could stall the ship, or pick up all the stargates and make another bridge home.

I give the show one more try and if it seems to be more about the characters having issues with each other and everyone having sex and being assholes then i quit watching it.

But this show does have a chance, just do more with the aliens and less about their personal lives.

SGU once again fails to fully utilize the kinos. Why go wandering around a barren alien planet when you have a bunch of kinos to go on a scouting mission?

As for the scene with Jack: I actually think it was very poorly done. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Richard Dean Anderson should just stop acting entirely. It's time to fully retire. He was great in his day, but it's time to let it go.

I
Speaking of painful scenes to watch, when Rush and the Angry Black Man (I'll learn his name when his character develops beyond that)

I hope you didn't bother learning the name of the black dude who was on Atlantis during its first season. Because all he was was Happy Go Lucky Black Sidekick. And really one isn't any better or worse than the other. The thing they share in common is that they are black. And black characters tend to be the amongst the most underwritten of characters on sci fi shows. So I hope Greer is fleshed out but I'm not holding my breath. And even if they do get to his backstory I will still wonder why the Asian lady and his are put to the backburner (especially since the first time we saw Gree he was locked up) when the white characters have their stories/their flashbacks told first.

I would like to know how they will explane that a US senator is dead but they do not have his body and his daughter is no where to be found.

Running out of bullets should definitely be done. One or two characters should probably grow beards, but odds are the military types would have mess kits in those huge backpacks they carry everywhere.
Definitely we need to feel shortages on this show though - clothes need to be worn and dirty, limits on medicine, ammo, food and water. I liked that line about 'my water ration is gone for today then'. I hope that sort of thing is kept up, and not just in throwaway dialogue.

LOL good point. I liked the music, and I liked how much time they spent on the actual ship. Better? :D

I was bored. Suffice it to say, I won't be watching this series anymore.

I thought it was boring too, but I'll keep trying it out.

So how exactly did those 2 people "die". Did they even die? How will we ever know?

I'm suspecting they will come back as super mutants!

1 Chevron. We've gone from arguing on the ship to arguing in sand. Eli is the epitome of the big fat dumb american that non-americans hate.

The premiere was poor. Very poor. The story had no teeth, almost every character is unlikeable (not in the good way) and it takes ages for anything to happen.

Atlantis and SG1 had better pilots.

Won't be coming here again.

Well, I'm not american, and I like him.

I'll continue to watch to check if they at least try to address things that should have been addressed in this episode (like the two missing members of the away team).

And Chloé's mother was so cliché, it makes me wonder if the writers have what it takes to come up with a believable drama story. For the moment, I'm not convinced at all.

According to Joe Mallozzi's blog, they are going to be laying out things in each episode that won't get resolved until later, so I think it's safe to say they'll deal with the missing people and the shuttle at some point.

I kind of liked the fact that she was pissed and threatened that Air Force guy (who should have been Major Davis) that she would bring the gate program public. As of now there are so many people who know about thr program it's a miracle nobody has really gone public with it yet.
Her drinking was cliche though.

I also found the threat of a woman threatening to reveal the secret a little silly. Throughout the entire Stargate program, only one person thought of going public? Now, if the show goes dark and zaps the woman to another planet, that might be interesting... but as it stands, it'll mostly be an afterthought.

I think 'they' didn't take it as an actual threat, she's hurt and angry and is striking out. And, I think she realized right after she said it that they didn't take her seriously.

8 Chevrons. Liked it more than the first 2 parter

Above avertage overall.

I don't remember the SG1 premiere, and this was better than Atlantis.

I will be watching.

I really liked the music, it sharpened the atmosphere a lot (no pun intended), adn I' really like to know who did that 'Breathe' song at the end, and if it's available elsewhere.

I think Eli's character has a huge potential for growth, from nerdy bedroom teen to fat action guy. :) I think a lot of us can relate to that.

I still think Rush has secrets. The other characters are a bit interchangeable at the moment, but that'll change.

I think overall it's a big step up from Atlantis, and it will, hopefully, continue to get better.

(Now, just have to figure out how to get to write for it... :D )

That is a good point right there, this is a big step up from Atlantis, a positive step up.

It's "Breathe", by Alexi Murdoch.
